My FD shifter shifts up to 2nd but lever gets stuck going to 3rd

Good day,
I have been trouble shooting my bike for 3 days i bike from home to work. My shifter i think is broken? i dont know if it is but it works until 2nd speed and thumb lever gets stuck.
I can pull back the lever to return to 2nd speed. Before this happened my shifter wouldnt allow me to shift to 3rd speed. Maybe i broke it with the force I tried. Anyone could help me to save money? Im really broke since this corona virus pandemic happenened. I dont really wanna spend money for another shifter

Make sure you check that your shifter cable is not fraying inside the shift lever. Never force a stuck shift lever. Try to find the cause before possibly doing more damage.

That sounds like the prawls could be sticking, try flooding a WD-40 type in the shifter and work it in.

Thats worked for me for the rapid fire types of units.

Make sure there is nothing physically blocking the lever, like the brake clamp on the handlebar.

That tends to indicate-
H screw needs to be backed out a bit
OR
Cable adjusted too short.

Can you move the FDER over all the way by hand?
