new loose bearings arrived today, and tomorrow I’m starting the bottom bracket

I think the name of the catalog site is bikeboompeugeots. I am working on a 1972 Peugeot AE8 right now and filing cotters is not my idea of fun.

It will be interesting to see pics of your bike and progress. Some people make a big deal about the term restoration. I have had a few bikes that I originally intended to restore to vintage specs but gave up due to the expense. If ya dont have another bike to ride then just clean that baby up, get it fully sound, and ride, ride, ride.

One thing for sure is that an old Peu can give ya a real good ride...
You seem to have experience with Peugeots. Do you know if the fixed headset cups are the same on the top and bottom? I got mine all jumbled up.

The crown race is almost always a race, not a cup, so the lower head tube pressed-in piece is a cup.

The adjustable cup that locks to the locknut is almost always a cup. So the upper head tube pressed-in piece has to be a race, not a cup.

Again, a photo is worth a thousand words.

Here’s another update

Got the bottom bracket, cranks and fork all mounted up! I still need to do some small adjustments, but I’m feeling good about the progress, considering it’s been sitting around for like a year.

I managed to figure out with pictures and reasoning. Thanks for the feedback.
