Xcaret, a large and impressive ecopark on the riviera, bought some land and is connecting two or more cenotes by an underground river. Northeast of town. Thankfully not on this side. Buses roll in from Cancun. Once in Valladolid, Chichen is only a skip away. I picked a friend up at Cancun sirport, a couple months ago. We planned to stop there and bicycle the next morning. The downtown area was so full of white folks, I freaked out, and we stayed out on the edge of town. In the morning we rode out to a cenote I know and were the only ones there, for well over an hour. Always a treat to find an unknown one. Too cold toswim on that particular morning.

I rode enough to eat a whole pizza today, but that's not what I'm having for dinner.

That comes after you have 5000 feet in your legs. I usually skip the last climb and am happy to turn around at the village.
I had my 60th birthday ride up there. A friend drove up the day before with a cake and they kept it at the lodge. I had no idea until after we finished lunch and they brought out the cake which had a picture of me on it wearing one of my fredly jerseys. That will be 6 years ago in about a week.

Thanks for asking. As long as I do absolutely nothing more than hang in the hammock, getting up only to pee or get something to eat, it does well. Even trying to open a zip-loc bag is painful. The doc was not exagerating when he gave me those instructions. He also told me that re-attaching fingers is one of their most common surgeries. Mine was the second that day. And the man who occupied my bed, ahead of me, had the same injury. The nurses were very familiar with it.
Valladolid, unfortunately, has gone to mega tourism. It's really sad to see. Such a nice town.

Salad and a nice plate o spaghetti. 200+ tss ride on two water bottles and a pbj. I did have a slice of apple bread, pre ride. With these 6 day ride weeks, I'm slowly approaching within 10 pounds of datlas weight. What a shame the season is in the ****ter.
