Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Hahaha! Amazing isn't it.

I just drove through my first School Zone today. Good luck kids!

We used to go into caves and tunnels and pick bats off the wall. Grab 'em by the back of their necks and they can't bite you.

This largely misses the point of comparing NC/TN, which have a similarly-timed infection curves.

That would suck to get bit while hanging onto a rock face.

Then dealing with the rabies later? More suckage.

I just read that a school in, I think, Georgia had to shut down again after a Mom discovered, to her horror, that her kid was wearing a DIFFERENT MASK than the one she'd sent them to school with. Kids apparently were trading masks - "Oooo! I love your Spiderman mask! I'll trade you this Batman mask for it!"

Which anyone who's had kids, or BEEN A kid would have predicted, if they'd given it a moment's thought. We give them cool masks, so they'll wear them, and then they trade them for cooler masks.

Seems there isn't much thinking going on. Shaking though

My wife just LOVES bats! She even got the rabies vaccine, just so she could handle them. She was supposed to go to Australia to see their bats (and Australia) in June, but You Know What happened.

Didja know that your insurance won't pay for the rabies vaccine without your having been exposed? It's 'elective'. And it costs $1000 for the series.

BUT, she got to hold a bat!

Did you try spraying the cleat and the top of the pedal to see if the noise goes away? Doesn't seem likely that the pedal bearing would squeak unless it's bone dry.

I just called my LBS and he has sold the mtb and the wheels I left with him and he wants me to bring in my touring bike, says he has a potential buyer for it, too.
I cleaned it up a bit and it looks pretty good. Having second thoughts about getting rid of it. Sure, I can put a rack on the Gunnar if I ever want to tour again, but that Cannondale touring bike is so cool. I don't even know how much to ask for it.

The friend that I rode with over the weekend works with a small group of hospitals as kind of an... emergency planner of sorts. I asked him about the hospitals that he oversees and how they were doing w/r/t covid. He said that they were in the midst of a second infection wave and hospitalizations were back up but, unlike the first wave, it was largely younger, more healthy people this time around and that intensive care beds and respirator use was down relative to their first rodeo. Maybe NC and TN are seeing different populations getting hit?

It's a 1988, I think, and it has a steel fork, with an aluminum frame, of course. It has canti-lever brakes and eyelets for front and rear racks and I put a triple on it. Oh, and 7 speed hub in back but I have put a 9 speed wheel on it, it's bar end friction shifters.
I'll have to get a picture of it before it goes.

The market doesn't accurately reflect the economy which is being a teensy bit hampered by the sick, the dead and the jobless riff-raff?
