If you're not in the obit, eat breakfast!
There's an HBO documentary called "If you're not in the obit, eat breakfast!" featuring Carl Reiner, Betty White, Dick Van ****, and bunches of far-lesser known people in their 90s talking about vitality and their "secrets" to their long life. What struck me was the common theme of just getting out there and doing it. So many of them were active - very active - including a woman who took up running at age 80 to overcome certain tragedies in her life and who was running 5k and 10k events at age 100.
If you have the opportunity, watch the documentary. It's quite good.
I bring this up because I was reminded of this forum while watching the program. All of the people here who are pursuing their passion for riding bikes well past the age 50, whether that's racing downhill on a speedy road bike, or making their way on a vintage beast, or peddling along on bike trails. I find this forum so inspiring because no matter when I log in, there's someone telling a story, sharing a tip, boasting about their new bike, or whatever in a way that makes me think, grin, or simply feel good about our common interest.
Cycling is such a great way to get in touch with our eternal inner child (or grandchild!).

Thanks, Deege.
I'm with you. It's been right at 2 years since I retired and I'm just now figuring out my next career. It's being a Grand Dad (and a Great-Grand Dad). I'm thinking about what I have to do to be in the top half of that group. Takes more planning than you'd think. I think that it's going to be fun.
(Incidentally, my computer didn't want to let me type "Deege" even though I had capitalized it like a proper noun. It wanted me to say "Deere" as in green colored tractor.)

Let us not forget that before the Dutch emerged as one of the great cycling cultures in the history of the universe they were busy with other pursuits like establishing New Amsterdam and sticking their fingers in Earthen Flood Control Structures.

I'm not into cooking eggs yet and all I have to sweeten my cereal is saccharin somebody got me by mistake, so I'm not really into corn flakes right now.
PS I'm not drinking the Flavoraid that is much cheaper than the Kool Aid either...

I make it a point to check the Obits and death notices every morning, when I reach the office. Since the late original owner/founder (he did not remain upright, in good taste) posted a notice about dying employees remaining upright, leaning on shovels and other construction tools, not being paid once it is confirmed they have expired, I am damned if I am staying here at this desk for free. Once my name is there I am out of here.....literally and figuratively

How did my post about vitality in your 90s run off the rails becoming a thread about how to spell lesbian?
