So DON'T TAKE A POWDER ON US, T-MAR!
+1 on the other Scott's 20k idea, but one can always do an Advanced Search through the existing threads for a topic, include "T-Mar" as the username, and return the results as threads rather than posts. While T-Mar works on his Secret Project, all of his great posts continue to exist.

I've always been amazed at T-Mar's knowledge and courtesy. Of course it's his decision if he wants to stop posting at 10,000, but I really expect he continues contributing here.

On-ya T-Mar! Congratulations on the eve of your 10,000th post. And……countless more pieces of knowledge and advice you have shared with me and everyone else.

I really hope you will continue on with your most valuable contribution to this forum.

With much appreciation and thanks,

Gary.

Unfortunately, everybody burns out sometime or another. And the rest of us just have to live with it.

To the administrators: Is it possible to store T-Mar's stuff in its own sticky, to be used as an immediate, general reference area? You know, go into the sticky, type in a subject, and any posts he's done on the subject immediately come up.

I figure the alternative is to collect everything in a little red book . . . . .

I notice he is still posting…I think…over at the CR list. That is, if my guess as to who T-Mar is ….is correct.

At the risk of seeming like a stalker (I happened to visit the recently bumped Nishiki Serial Number Database thread)...has anyone else noticed T-Mar's post count is now down to 9,998? I hope this trend continues and we get at least one bonus post out of him. Doubt it though. Regardless, I hope he shares with us what "other bicycle related projects" he had in mind--when the time is right, of course.

Yeah, I also notice it's 9,998 posts. Owning a couple of Canadian Nishikis since new, I've also followed T-Mar's Nishiki Serial Number thread since its inception. Only now did I notice he hasn't posted since last September and then came across this thread. I'm not even sure I remember him stating he would retire from Bike Forums after 10 years or 10,000 posts, but my memory isn't what it used to be. Yes, Tom's a good guy and has been an invaluable resource for Nishiki owners the world over. But I guess it was time. Seeing more and more pictures of non-classic Nishikis in the thread (you know, index shifters, brifter brakes, clipless pedals, even carbon forks) was starting to depress me and started coming here less and less. Happy trails, T-Mar!

At my current rate of posting it would take me 158 years to reach 10,000 posts.

Of course, I don't have much to say. And little bike knowledge, but learning each day.

Are you suggesting CR members are elitists? How is that? That list strives to maintain the true spirit of the classic and vintage bike hobby by excluding stuff later than 1983 unless it's "keeper of the flame" stuff, unlike here. And no, T-Mar is not on the CR List because everyone uses their real names and location.

I have little knowledge, but plenty to say anyways. My one great regret, is not buying those Miele stickers, when T-Mar offered. If I had, I could harass him by snail mail, to post again. (That's just my weird sense of humor. Please, don't anyone actually do that.)

You guys really should watch out.. you never know who could just be lurking and not have a last active date revealed on his profile. He may start to consider himself a god.. then again he may just be.

I know a small bike list on which he continues to post...but it's not up to me to out him.

I think his current bike interests have been reduced in scope, for now.

Boy, that took a stretch of the imagination.

No. I'm just not sure Tmar is Peter Kohler. But I think so. I could be wrong.

T-Mar

Yep, it was T-Mar who got started the Centurion Serial Number
Database here after I asked him to date my second Centurion
(my first was a Cinelli Equipe Centurion and they are not
numbered). That database started the Centurion craze here,
aided and abetted to this day by RobbieTunes, who bought a
Centurion and never looked back.
.
And T-Mar's additions to my own "Centurion Bicycles" article
( www.sheldonbrown.com/centurion ) filled in most of the gaps
missing there (there will always be gaps to fill).
.
So thank you T-Mar... from me and, of course, all the other
members of what Rob calls "The Centurion Cult."
.

T-Mar depth of knowledge and contribution to the general database is rather stunning... this comes from someone who has been involved in the bike industry for many decades and someone who has an encyclopaedic knowledge and would put him there with our own Mr Thompson when it comes to arcane bike lore.

I guess I will have to wait another 3 years before I check out as I passed the 10,000 post count a long time ago...

Sixty Fiver I joined one month befor you and I am at 404 posts. My vast background of bike knowledge was used up at post 10. I did race for a few years and I never gave the bike that much thought back then as we all pretty much used the same equipment.
I am just funning with you. I enjoy all the comments that people have about bikes.

I was just thinking of this. We could idolize him and start legends and myths which would/could permeate bike culture for generations.....
