Tunnel-Viaduct ride

Anybody doing it? 10,000 people jammed into 12 miles over a max of 4 hours. Yikes!

I did the Emerald City ride last year, so no need to ride the Viaduct again. Not sure riding in the new tunnel is going to be that interesting (except maybe watching when that 4% grade catches the unprepared by surprise), but in any case, this won't be the only time to ride it.

I will be there with my wife and a friend. Not sure which bike I will be riding yet.

I thought about it. But it's a bit of trek from the Great White North just to ride through a tunnel.

My kids are pre-whining about the tunnel, my wife is only in it for the viaduct but she will tolerate the tunnel if that's what it takes to get to the viaduct (and also if it's raining)

I bought a ticket for myself and my wife. My wife is making noises about bailing out, I may be on my own. If its raining or snowing, I am not going.

I missed the Viaduct ride last spring. I thought that was going to be the last chance, had no idea about this.

Holy smokes lots of people but it was fun. Lots of people/bike watching and we were blessed with dry weather.

It was fun, and not as densely packed as I feared. I think the worst part, crowdwise, for me, was the out-and-back between the 2 decks of the tunnel.

Yeah, it was fun. We were lucky with the weather, weren’t we?

I'm glad the weather cooperated.

I'll say. If the weather had been 12 hrs accelerated we definitely wouldn't have done it.

I made a 4x speed video but it cut out when we got onto the viaduct:

Did anybody get out and check out the emergency exits? I saw people opening the side doors and poking around but we didn't stop our ride to see what was up in there.

Great video, thanks. It looked to be a fun ride, although crowded. Cascade lists 12,000 registered.

It was fun; the most claustrophobic I felt was during the out-and-back between the 2 tunnel decks. Otherwise not really too bad. We saw one spectacular somersaulting accident in the tunnel but my camera didn't catch that. He seemed mostly OK as did the other person involved who was less airborn...

Sounds like a good time. Kinda makes me wish I had sucked it up and signed up for the ride.

Thanks for sharing your video! Looked fun and glad the weather worked out! Different this past week (Feb 3 thru 9) with the snow and ice.

Wasn't a BF user until after the ride. Drove over from east of the Cascades to meet up with some friends and check out the tunnel. Here's our video:

There is this time lapse on the start line - I watched it but couldn't spot myself around 9 AM.
