Do people still ride Orchard Hills, Irvine on Tuesdays?

Hi there,

I took a break from cycling a few years ago and am now getting myself back into the swing of things.

I've been looking for group rides on weeknights and I remember that a group of folks used to do a fast ride around Orchard Hills on Tuesday nights in Irvine.

Do folks still do this ride? Might want to swing by tomorrow if so.

Otherwise does anyone know of any other good group rides on weeknights?

Thanks!

OCW has a Weds night ride starting at Petsmart in Tustin. There is something called the Red Monkey ride that starts at rock n Road in Woodbury, I think Tues and Thurs. Strive Omni, a tri group was doing Weds evening hill repeats on Portola, but they seem to have dropped it. I’m still doing them since I live very close, sometimes a few people join me.

I think it'd be a lot more dangerous now that the area has been developed

Thanks for the info! The Red Monkey ride sounds interesting (live closer to Woodbury than Tustin) just having a hard time finding info on it via my google fu.

I found this. They roll at 6:15 tonight. If you go, bring lights, I think sunset is about 7:00 now.

FYI I think 4 of us are meeting tonight to do hill repeats on Portola, Tomato Springs and Whispering Hill. We roll from the intersection of Silverado and Portola at 5:15 (moved up due to shorter days). Join the suffering if you'd like.

I’ll be outta town on business this next week so not sure if anyone will be riding up and down Portola. Maybe the following week, October 2.

You can see the ride we did last Wednesday here:

https://www.strava.com/activities/2721170133

Up and down Portola 6x via Portola, Whispering Hill or Tomato Springs. .

I ride Orchard Hills and Portola very regularly and find it to be the safest non-path area in Irvine. No problems even during rush hour.
