First century in 4.5 years!

Did my first century since 2015 this weekend, and it was a beaut! Also first ride of 100 miles or more since I turned 60, and the first one since my heart attack, so I'm celebrating! Cool morning, a mild headwind coming home, clear skies with a few puffy clouds, rural scenery, quiet roads -- man, I've missed that. I did have problems cramping just short of 80 miles. Note to self: good job keeping up with hydration, but Gatorade is sugar water without any significant salt (and it tastes awful).

It's been a haul, but I'm ba-a-ack. Or at least I'm getting there!

Congratulations. I haven't done a century in a few years and I want to do one this year.

You're inspiring me, but it's getting late in the year. Only so many daylight hours in a day, how long start to finish?

Took me just under 8 hours, clock time. That's about 6:45 for riding around 15 mph average, 20 minutes extra for the hills, and the rest of the time eating and refilling water bottles. Tailwind assist heading north, it wasn't too hot or too strong so it was a cooling breeze coming back south, and only 4,000 feet of climbing, so it was fairly flat.

Yes - major congrats.

When I hit 62.137 years old, I decided all future centuries could be metric.

4 hours of 15+mph pedaling is enough for me to enjoy in one day.
Occasionally, when the stars align, more miles are possible.
