Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

The only good items worth getting are the Goldenbear jackets because they simply slapped their logo on.

Buyer beware though, I've been let down multiple times by their gear. Bad fit on the clothing and shoes and poor quality on the bags.

Random fact: the majority of the people that worked on creating those items in the sale were sacked right before their PDX move.

You will no longer see any "lifestyle" stuff coming from Chrome and their "forged rubber" shoe line will only a year left.

Some of that stuff was a fail, agreed. That Metropolis bag however, is one of the best pieces I have bought from Chrome. I am debating on the all black one since mine is looking really old now.

You know what's good then. Classic Chrome all the way but beware of their "revisions" where they cheapened the design/ cut corners for better or worse.

I still have my Chrome messenger from when they were still at their original SF HQ on Folsom St and the company was called Chrome Transport.

You cant go wrong with their classic messenger series, militia series, and barrage bags. Although I'll call their move to get rid of the top zipper for the side access pocket a bad one. They're basically surviving off their OG product.
Aka the stuff designed by the original Chrome founders/ Mission Workshop operators.

That $70 for a metropolis is a very tempting deal. I picked up what I thought was a metropolis on eBay a week or two back, but it turned out to be an OG Kremlin from before they were putting bottle openers on the buckle. I'm tall/broad enough that it fits my back, but that sucker is massive. I'm kind of bummed that it doesn't have the velcro straps on the inside of the tarpaulin bag to attach my laptop sleeve that modern ones do. Part of me wants to sew my own on and part of me wants to just buy one of those metropolis bags on sale because I don't really need the size of the Kremlin. It is pretty sweet to have a bag I could fit one of my kids in though.

Let me know if you are thinking about not keeping that bag.

Eh, no matter what I'll probably keep the Kremlin, I love the large size. Just might not be my daily work bag if I don't get a better way of hauling my laptop in it.

Come on guys, stop the label love. 50 bucks and it's all scratched up and rusty AF.

Edit: Adding that it's all faded and filthy dirty too.

Yeah I mean do logo delete on a FSA and write Chris King on it and you basically get the same thing.

Realizing that others like the brand, I thought I'd pass it along.

Reading the description now I see, "Very slight grit on the bottom bearing" and enlarging the photo shows the rust.

Definitely probably better to pass this one up.
