I think you misunderstood me. 
I am thinking of putting myself on a self-imposed Twitter ban. The level of snarky-ness, condescension, etc. has really become a downer. It seems like if we’re not skewering somebody or commenting on every tidbit of info not inline with our own thinking, they’re fair game for ridicule. I’ve seen some funny and pithy stuff but most of what I’ve seen lately are a lot of unhappy people.

Day 1 of my son's school closure: finished his daily homework allotment within two hours of waking up and now he's running laps in the back yard because his gym teacher told him to stay active. and 
I just wish that he could be this focused at school. Oh, and yeah, no telling how long he'll keep it up, but it's a good start.

We had interesting conversation in our emergency doctor meeting yesterday. I suggested deferring most elective orthopedic procedures like hip replacements and repair of torn cruciate ligaments. I was surprised to get pushback from the orthopods. That stuff is their bread and butter.
But three seconds prior in the meeting they were all in on the idea of moving to essential services.
I think it’s human nature to believe the one thing they personally want to do is “ok” whereas everyone else’s thing is the problem.
Thats why I think the specifics have to come from above. Closing public beaches during Spring Break when you know folks are in your town specifically to go to the beach for spring break is probably necessary. Otherwise people think- “well I’m going outdoors which is ok and I plan to stay 6 feet away from folks I haven’t been exposed to, and I’m heading home in 3 days when it’s more practical to start real social distancing, so going to the beach today is ok”.

Vain, But Lacking Talent
Still waiting to hear back on SIL's test. They said Tuesday and she called this morning to find out that thy still don't have results and it might even be tomorrow now. As far as I know, she was tested Friday. That's just crazy slow for something that spreads so fast.
I work for a company that manufactures electrical safety equipment for power providers, manufacturing plants, data centers, etc. Our job is still rocking because this stuff is essential to keep stuff running. However, with the economy down I'm sure sales will slump even if our stuff is needed.
My gig is engineering, where I am in a management role. I can do a fair bit of stuff from home, and have been doing so. However, I have a ton of stuff sitting on my desk at work that I need to be physically building to get a prototype out ASAP and it's just sitting there while I'm emailing and doing conference calls, etc. Granted, that prototype is for an NYC customer and most of my contacts are being told to work from home period.
I am fairly sure my SIL will probably come back negative for it, but it's just irresponsible to run into the office until I know for sure. I still feel like people are annoyed with my decision. Maybe it's just my paranoia...

My company works with Ortho surgeons (and others) in the Medicare BPCIA program. Most of their surgeries are elective and their earnings in the program are based on delivering care under a set target price by CMS for a bundles of DRGs. Without the low cost electives, they’re going to get hammered for doing predominantly trauma cases and owe CMS in the millions unless CMS does something.
Not saying I disagree with the decision to limit elective surgeries, but it’s going to hurt a lot of people. There’s a decent likelihood I could lose my job due to lack of revenue and where I live there isn’t a huge (any) demand for analytics executives.
It’s scary, I’m worried, not about my health but my ability to provide for my family. I’m sure everyone is.

Ours is more of a situation of trying to not do things that encourage people to leave their homes unnecessarily and come into contact with others. Since we've worked out a way to still see/admit patients with very minimal physical interaction with the clients, we are continuing for now.
I think LA is going to get locked down soon enough though. So it may become a moot point. We might be "essential personnel" in the veterinary field but if clients can't bring pets to us, its going to be a matter of treating the cases we have hospitalized at the time of the lock down and then being on call until its over. No idea what will happen if a regular joe person has a veterinary emergency with their pet at home. I assume they would be allowed out to go to the vet, but I honestly don't know...

Our paradigm is different though- our surgeries are not tying up valuable (to sick humans) medical resources. Ours is more of a situation of trying to not do things that encourage people to leave their homes unnecessarily and come into contact with others. Since we've worked out a way to still see/admit patients with very minimal physical interaction with the clients, we are continuing for now.

Wife's dad's parents spent 3 weeks in Spain recently, and came back last week. Within a few days they invited wife's dad over to watch a movie. Wife's sister lives with their dad and works as a CNA in a nursing home. Wife's sister was spending a few days at her boyfriend's place when this happened, and got a call from her dad saying that she probably can't come home since he might have been exposed via his parents.
So now wife's sister is cut off from all of her things at the house including her dog for the next few weeks, and is now having to stay at her mom's house. Not only does she not have any clothes or other normal things that people use every day at their house, she now has a 45 mile / 1 hour long commute to deal with.
Wife's dad has a complicated life history involving a TBI that really puts 100% of the blame on his parents for being so clueless and/or careless to pressure him to come over just to socialize.
It's just so dumb.

Telemedicine is arriving for us. I just got to demo a program that looks like FaceTime from the patient's perspective (and mine) but is HIPAA compliant. I think we will start virtual/telemedicine visits tomorrow or Thursday. It's not ideal, but at least should help.
