I don't listen to music while riding my bike, whether it's on the road or on the trails. Frankly, in my area, listening to music while riding on the road is a fool's errand. I don't use a trainer, which is why I'm in such bad shape. I watch tv while running on the eliptical machine, which I find dreadfully boring. I tried to put music on but that's almost worse than the tv. I play the drums so there are plenty of other times I listen to music. Sometimes I'm listening to music to learn how to play a tune. Almost always while in the car, although I often put NPR or the news on in the car as well. My favorite genres are jazz, fusion, funk, rock. My greatest musical influence? Frank Zappa.

I saw them at the Roxy back in the 70s, not sure if it was that performance. I remember Ruth Underwood and George Duke but nobody else.
I saw the Mothers at Pauly Pavillion when they did the "Just Another Band from LA" concert with Flo and Eddy. Amazing concert, 3+hours non stop. They did Mudshark, Billy the Mountain, Lonesome Cowboy Bert and finished with Happy Together.

On the trainer: whatever the soundtrack of that particular Sufferfest workout is featuring.
On the road: The sounds of nature and the beautiful sounds of a well-tuned bicycle. Sometimes, the music that plays in my head. I’m a musician. No earbuds on the road for me.

My son likes Pink Floyd from Dark Side of the Moon on out.
I prefer Umma Gumma and everything before Dark Side and dislike the later stuff.
Generation gap, I guess except he wasn't born until 1995.

The Fisher in the middle is a pre-amp driving the top right in the cage.
It sounds good is an understatement.
Unfortunately it caught on fire, but I expect it to be running when I get back from my trip in a week or so.
Any SoCal person should hear this on a few different speaker combos.

Zappa was a huge influence on me. I have first pressings of Freak Out and Absolutely Free. The guys at the record shop asked me (about 12 years old) if I knew what I was buying. The real answer is "no", but I knew some older folks that clued me in and knew that I liked music. I loved it.
And check out Mike Keneally (sp?).

Had a later day at work on Monday and found myself in the lab for a bit, so I played Sgt. Peppers and Magical Mystery Tour back to back on high volume while tending to something. I always preferred the psychedelic Beatles albums. Revolver comes in a close third.

I have a bunch of different playlists with a wide variety of music and just pick one for that ride. Lots of Nahko, Michael Franti, Damian/Stephen Marley, Samini, Dirty Heads, Satsang, Trevor Hall.... and on and on.
All positive, uplifting stuff so I can share a peace sign, or shaka when I hear the horn, get buzzed or flipped off.

Heard some Francois Couperin streaming KUSC this morning, cute little piece called "Sister Monique", cute little piece. It caught my ear and distracted me while working from home so naturally I had to post .
Turns out he's French and from the Baroque era. I will be looking into him more.

Yeah, light and pleasant. I enjoy all the little trills written into the melody.

I was surfing youtube and found this video of Sara Brightman and Antonio Bandaros performing a song from Phantom of the Opera. I did not know that Banderos was that good of a singer. I always thought of him as Zorro or western outlaw shooting things up. Having said that, IMO, he is not in Sara’s league but hey, he sounded great and looked great.
We saw Sara live in Phantom of the Opera and Aspects of Love. She is in a league of her own and I total get why Andrew Lloyd Weber fell in love with her.

In other music news, we watched Hamilton on Disney. It was excellent but quite a change from an Andrew Lloyd Weber musical. The digital version was very good but I am sure the live version on Broadway would make a lasting impression such as Phantom and Aspects of Love. Highly recommended to watch on Disney streaming.

Now working on the Czerny piece from Book 740 Etude #7. This is very Liszt like. This kills my right hand.

i've played guitar off and on since I was 13 or so, although I went through a period where I sold my guitar stuff to fund a camera hobby. But over the past 9 years I've picked up some dirt cheap guitars, first a starcaster acoustic for $40, then a strat copy from ebay for $35, and today I got a Harley Benton les paul copy for $30 from someone locally. LPs have been my favorite (I had an epiphone LP for a while and loved it), so I look forward to messing around with it. I don't have an amp, I just use a USB interface with amp sim apps and that's plenty for me.

I mostly stream Qobuz HD, and some local DSD and my DAC/s are great. I have vinyl, just don't use it anymore and the vinyl guys rarely beat my sound.
Much of the "new" stuff is coming to streaming video first.
I like how these new artists just cut their own.
Listen to the bass - Federico Rankin in his "Africaaaaa". He starts is off with his mini-solo but it is as background he is belting it out @1:20 and later of course.
I wish the YouTube fidelity/player was a bit higher quality - I think they are working on that.
