Fixie for my daughter

I'm a geared bike guy so don't know anything about fixed gear. My daughter is an art student in Richmond, VA so she, of course, needs a fixie.

She saw this bike on cl:

Looks like a ~'04 Bianchi Pista. Lots of mods apparently as well. Asking $200.

Is this a fair deal? Anything I should be concerned about on this bike or pay special attention to?

TIA for your help. I'll head back to the 41 and commuting areas where I belong once I help out my little girl.

Mike

First off, it seems like a reasonable price to me. It's safe because it has a front brake and foot retention. The real question is whether or not it fits her. Girls are typically long legged and short armed, and the bike looks like it has a very long reach to the ends of the bullhorns, but that may not matter if she rides the tops all the time. Basically, it should fit her the same as a geared road bike.

ditto on tejano.
if it fits her it would be fine, and a decent deal.

im not entirely sure on female proportions in general, or your girls', but ive had similar findings in fitting my wife: she needs a shorter top tube and a higher seat tube.

so you might need to switch out the bullhorns for some handlebars with some back-sweep...

but yah im thinking 200 for that bike is not bad at all.

$200 is not bad, for the price I would be more than willing to experiment with different length stems, seatposts with different setback and saddles especially with a parts bin laying around.

FYI bianchi pista's are 1" threadless and take a 27.2 post.

$200.00 is a really good deal... almost too good for a bike that appears to be in such nice shape.

The pistadex is apparently down in this economy.

I would be leery of buying Bianchi Pistas that have been upgraded and are selling for less than the cost of the upgrades.
