How can a re-painted bike be IDed
Someone is selling a bike that was re-painted by the previous owner. Is there any way to find out what type of bike it is? Here is a picture:

Any hope of figuring out what this was originally is dependent on good photos. Those are not good enough. Closeup photos of the headtube, lugs, BB, seat cluster, fork and stay ends for starters. Seat tube ID might help. Frankly though it is likely a crap shoot.

As CV-6 says, close-ups of the tubing joints, seat cluster, dropouts, etc. may help. The seat stay treatment at the seat cluster does look a little like Schwinn E-F stay ends, but the photos aren't detailed enough to even see if it's lugged, fillet brazed, or TIG welded.

It's a turd
+1 Its not a Schwinn, its something a lot lower, given the crimped drop outs and crank.

Head tube joints are too crude, not crazy about the rear dropouts, either. A Columbia - at best.
Edit: The above was based on the first two pictures. Looking at the other four, that's not a Columbia. Crank's too cheap. Murray or Huffy. Don't bother.
