a cautionary note, for folks who prefer narrow Q factors.... the XD is a bit wide.
I bought one from Riv about 18 years ago, to install on my new touring frame. Nice crank, but the pedals were set so far apart that it became annoying and uncomfortable on longer rides.

That crank is now on a recumbent, and it seems less annoying there. Maybe that is because it replaced a FSA crank that had an even wider Q factor?
Other than that... it's a good inexpensive 110/74 crankset. Very versatile!

Still can't form an opinion on this 11 speed silver 105 crankset. Mechanically, its a winner for 10 and 11 speed chains. It's appearance is improvement on the 10-speed 105 and Ultegra, but that's faint praise.

Sorry, nothing vintage looking about that IMHO.

Other then online , haven't actually seen a Sugino OX2 601. Uses 24mm oversize bb.

Notes:
The Sugino OX2-601-D crank system is designed to offer gearing ranges lower than that of a normal road compact crank without resorting to mountain cranks or triples.

The 110/74mm bolt pattern and specially designed rings allow for many gearing options.

We currently offer the OX2-601-D with a 46/30 chainring combination. In our opinion, this is a fantastic range for randonneuring, light touring, or mixed surface riding where a conventional 50/34 might be over-geared.

All cranks include an English standard threaded bottom bracket, chainrings and necessary hardware.

It should also work on any bike that is currently fitted with a road double or compact crank.

-----------
The Compact Plus+ is a double crank set design with a 110 and 74mm bolt circle which opens up a wide array of chainring combinations.
Instead of being locked to the common 52-39t and 50-34t options, you can make a versatile 48-32t or a great option for hilly touring (46-30t).

Specs:

- Cold forged aluminum arms

- Low 145mm Q-factor

- 24mm oversized BB axle

- MB-608 II External BB cups included

- Matte Silver or Shiney Black

- Chainrings are Shimano 10/9 speed compatible and SRAM 10-speed compatible. CNC-machined aluminum. Ramped and pinned.

I Have the IRD Compact on the Ironman, but i'm only running Shimano 105 7 speed group. I love it.

Yeah, I agree. Also perhaps the most expensive. Perhaps it's cheaper in Europe.

I was going to post a picture, but you beat me to it. It's the usual choice of the current Alex Singer shop.

I have an RD-5500 (9-speed 105) on my Pug, shifting an 11-26 7-speed cassette in friction mode. The B-tension spring is pretty weak on it, so I have a longer M4x0.7 machine screw threaded in about half-way. It won't clear a 28T sprocket, due in most part I think to the weak spring. It was 5 bucks at a co-op, so I run it in this configuration and it works good.

The 9- and 10- speed options seem to be not that hard to find, at least second-hand. I mean, 9-speed groupsets have been introduced over 20 years ago, they already look pretty classic comparing to the current aero carbon contraptions. 11-speed, on the other hand...
I have picked up silver Potenza derailleurs and shifters for a classic-look-inspired steel randonnee bike, and I'm stuck on choosing a crankset. I didn't get the Potenza one, 1) because the 4-bolt pattern is ugly, 2) because the full gruppo (or, fwiw, the crankset itself) is nowhere to be found in stock (while the black Potenza parts are widely available with discounts, had to shop around for silver ones). While Athena 2x11 crankset theoretically exists in alloy, finding one that checks all the boxes - UT, compact, 170 mm - seems impossible.
On the other hand, there are plenty of NOS or used 10-speed 5-bolt alloy Campy cranks around. What could go wrong if I pic one and swap the chainrings for 11-speed compatible, if I find them with correct BCD (I think Stronglight and TA make some)?

P.S. is there any difference in terms of finish between the current silver Centaur and Potenza? In the catalog pictures they look identical, but in a single real-life photo of the silver Centaur I found it looked duller than the Potenza version.
The more I look at it, the more I like it ok I am with the 4-bolt pattern. It's no Record, but far not as bad as the asymmetric Shimano. Surprisingly, it also seems to be one of the least expensive 11-speed compatible silver crankset at about half of the TA Carmina price.

Anyone running hollowtech 2/gxp/outboard bearing vintage looking cranks? Not a fan of campag, 4 arm silver shimano looks bad on most setups vintage or modern, anything else available?

Campy 10sp FTW. I am partial to the triple flavor so I can actually climb the hills around here. Veloce, Centaur, Racing-T, Chorus, Record, they all look good and work great.
