Suggested first upgrade to stock Rans Rocket
I have a stock Rocket, guessing 2003 model(Standing on my head to read the numbers on the bottom bracket would cause immediate blackout!) Everything works, but I'd like to make it hum! It currently is lots of fun, but.....well, I've seen some mods others have made and they piqued my interest. If the bike were yours, what would your first upgrade be?

Depends on what pedals you have. Were it me, I would ensure it has SPD pedals. Next change might be tires, depending on what rubber it currently has.

My suggestion would depend on what kind of riding you (want to) do.
Faster? Tires and maybe a tailbox.
Longer? Racks, fenders, etc.
How's the drivetrain? If it's already shifting and running well, you might leave that alone, but if you find you're struggling with hills, you might need some lower gears.
All kinds of things you can blow your money on!

What do you want out of the bike? Speed? Touring? Plodding on the MUP? Answering that might indicate the options you could consider.

I had a Rocket. I had it tricked out with Chris King hubs and XTR derailleurs. I thought it was much nicer than average. The guy who I eventually sold it to didn't like my upgrades. He would have paid more for one that was all OEM.

Two yucky occurrences today: 1. Someone didn't clean up after their pet No further explanation necessary. 2. The front idler broke. So, the first upgrade will be T-cycle idlers, front and rear.

Here's a $5 hack that will let you ride until you receive your new idlers from Terracycle:
It's worked well for me so far and it's not too noisy.
My wife's VRex and my Stratus have voracious appetites for the stock idler wheel from Rans. I'm going to eventually upgrade to the Terracycle kits but to do both bikes, it will set me back a little north of $300.

Are you trying to order the idlers from TerraCycle? Reason I ask is I decided to bite the bullet and order the Terracycle idlers for my Stratus and my wife's VRex (front and rear). I ordered them from Rans and they had everything in stock. Your Rocket uses the same idlers as our VRex. Rans pricing for the idlers is identical to Terracycle but shipping costs may differ.
