Specialized Hardrock Comp
I'm looking at this bike tomorrow, and I need to have some idea of what I should be paying. It's been kept inside its whole life, hasn't been ridden in years, and likely needs basic maintenance. TIA.

Overall, it is a fair price for a working bike. However, it won't be as nice as your rockhopper so I'd suggest waiting for a Deore LX or better {like a stumpjumper) for around that price.
Note: Considering that it's winter (even in California), I'd consider the price high. Considering this, I'd value it between $50-$75. Come March, $100-$125 to the right person.

Okay, so I bought it. $100. It's an '89, possibly the only year Specialized made a Hardrock Comp. I'll probably put too much money into it, but it's a nice bike, and the seller was the original owner; it was a wrench for her to let it go. There's more surface rust than in the pics; 90+% humidity, even under cover, will do that. I'll post pics the next time we get some light, which may be a few days.
Thanks, guys, I appreciate your help.

One of my personnel rider's is a Hardrock 89 comp these are great basic bikes while I got mine for free salvage find all original fairly good condition, The main unseen feature on the 89' model the really nice Sugino triple 175 crank with nice hard alloy black chainrings in good shape the crank rings and BB are worth about $150 on Ebay., So you did great value wise on a very nice bike.
