Saturday -- 63.2 km with 538 metres of climbing at an average on-bike speed of 19.0 km/h and an elapsed time of 4 hours and 5 minutes.

Northern Tasmania has some beautiful cycling! And one or two really good climbs!! Got the ol' heart rate going.

I rode 57 miles today exploring some new roads along the way, some good and some bad. Found an interesting gravel road with a steep, sandy little hill to climb after winding around the backwaters of a local lake, and a few miles of new pavement where there was some more gravel on the satellite images. It was my longest ride to date as well, and I keep kicking myself for not finding a way to take one of my decent cameras along with me.

My report will almost always be less than. I'm okay with that though. 10 miles Saturday and 10 Sunday. Really strong wind out of the north. Put it in a low gear and just kept grinding. The ride back made it worth it. Almost stayed in bed because I could hear the wind. Glad I pushed through.

Not actual pedaling, but I put new brake levers, brake lines, brake pads, and new handlebar tape on the 85 Trek, yesterday. Last weekend a new set of tires.

I would LOVE to ride bike this weekend. But injury have prevent me from riding bike. Hopefully, I will be able to ride next weekend.

Monday - Track session, much lighter than usual. Spent a lot of time just hanging out. Only four of us came out, so our paceline was more like team pursuit training.
Wednesday - 32 miles, faster than my usual. I tried to go harder both uphill and on descents and it showed, with several PRs in both.
Thursday - 24 miles, pretty quick pace again. Worked in a couple sets of 30s sprint intervals.
Friday - 13 miles, very easy recovery, +10 miles later riding to/from the bar.
Saturday - 40 miles with a bit of climbing. Set a new PR over Mt. Hollywood, 17:59 where my old best time was 19:32. Later, another 10 miles riding to/from the bar.

All in all, increased intensity significantly on my rides this week and it showed. I can see myself getting faster, and I can feel it too -- my legs are totally beat now.

Sat: watched GF and friends ride CX race. perfect weather for racing and watching. fun up on the big hill with the hecklers and handups

Sun: Raced and won (woo!) a local "Dirty Dozen" race out of one of the shops. we did 13 hills in 40mi with 3600' of climbing. The rules were the ride leader would lead the group around to each hill at an easy pace then hit an AirZounds horn when the hill started. points for first 5 places each hill (score kept track by a shop car going ahead and setting up a cone for the finish line). Everyone would wait for the rest to get to the top then head to the next hill. Basically turned into a brutal hill interval work out. Luckily it fit my set of abilities well. I'm small and go up hill well and I recover well between efforts, especially at an easy pace. Super fun riding.. some pretty evil hills at full gas and good riders to compete with. Weather was perfect all day.. 60's and sunny. Now to find something to spend my gift card on

I had three flats on Friday in a short 12 miles on Friday. So I re taped the rims and naturally I played tag with the rain and did not make it back out. Was not meant to be.

Pretty much a wash-out.

Got up early & got all ready, & waited for the rain to stop- which it finally did about 2:00.
I could have gone anyway, but the planned route goes through quite a bit of traffic, so I STFU'd (softened the f up).

Otherwise about 10 miles around town amid showers.

A combination of laziness and some kind of cold/mild flu have put a damper on riding lately.
Saturday was work on the bikes day - finally got around to cleaning up the steel bike, and got some bling put on the race bike (red ceramic-bearing pulleys).
Yesterday I finally managed to get some riding in. I felt really crummy and uninspired heading out. Started really slow and flat, then rambled up and down the East Hill for a while before doing a run up and down Alpine where I ran into a couple of friends who gave me a lift for a couple of miles in their pace line. After an espresso and a banana at a popular bike shop, I felt much better.
On each of the hills, I made it a point to start slow and easy, slower and easier than I knew was necessary (they were all familiar), and on the last (and longest) two, made it a point to gauge cadence and speed so that I could gradually accelerate to the top. About half way to the top of State Line, I noticed someone was approaching - about 20 yards back. I hoped he wasn't using me as a target, because, at only 7 mph, I was really going too slow (my typical average speed there is 9-10), so I dropped to a smaller cog and ramped it up to get over the crest at 15. If someone was going to overtake me, I felt obliged to make it worth his while.
Though forecast to be overcast all day, it was sunny when I was out, and turned out to be a lovely day (rains came later). I took a round-about route home, and although it was only 38 miles and 2600', I really needed a good stretch and a nap when I got in.

Yea it was the ultimate hill interval work out haha. I think i won 5 hills and was in the top 3-4 for a bunch of others. I only "skipped" 2 for a bit of energy conservation. one was soon after another and I said ehh i'll save some juice. the other was a short sprinty one that I was too far back in the group and had no shot anyway.

I think there were 20-25 that were out there.

I took Thursday and Friday off from work, so I was able to ride in the morning. Did the same 33 miles around Davis Is. on both days. Saturday was really windy. I did a 40 miles ride around S. Tampa. Then on Sunday I went for a longer then expected ride of 44 miles out to Thonotosassa. I did a route that I hadn't done in a number of years. I can't remember why I stopped using it. It does go through some industrial dumpy parts of Tampa, so maybe that's the reason. The weather is pretty ideal. High 60's and low 70's in the morning.

^^ That's a good amount of activity. I don't keep track, but I probably only get in around 500 miles or less a month of cycling. All my walking and stair climbing are work related.

Anyways another Monday on Davis Is. for 33 miles. Weather is still nice but persistently windy out of the NE (my least favorite direction). That will probably be it for this week.

I had not really considered adding what I walk, but I walk with my daughter to and from school(1/2 mile each way). Those extra 2 miles a day add up.

I set a goal the other day to finish the year with 2k miles of riding since starting in July; so I need to ride about 900 miles in the next 9 weeks. It should not be to hard since my average week is over 100 miles these days and I will ride my first metric century Nov. 19. I am also nearing my weight loss goal of being at or under 180 lbs. by Thanksgiving(11/24).
