Anyone ever lost an iPhone from a jersey pocket?

I have had a gel fall out while I was grabbing a bar on the same pocket, but iPhone gets its own pocket for the most part and the only things that ever go in the same pocket are like arm warmers when temps rise on early morning rides and they won’t be coming out of the pocket until I get home.

I carry my iPhone in my jersey.
I was involved in an accident last year and not only was the iPhone still in my pocket but it was also unharmed.

I've never had mine fall out, but then again it's an iPhone 6s plus in an Otter Box Defender case. The combination weighs about 27 pounds, give or take a gram. It would take a titanic upset indeed to pop it out of a jersey pocket.

I think I'd have to be upside-down for a little while for my phone to fall out.

I don’t keep my iPhone 6 in my jersey pocket because I’m worried about moisture damage from sweat. The times I have carried it there it felt secure. I did lose a credit card from my jersey pocket last week. Had to cancel it and get a new card. I think it may have come out when digging for something else.

The bread will certainly help protect it in case of a fall.
My favourite merino top (icebreaker GT) has a phone sleeve inside one of the pockets, complete with buttonhole for the headphone cord(remember those?). Its from 2013 and sized accordingly so you'll be hard pressed to squeeze a modern phablet in there.

I very nearly had an unfortunate incident in a SAG portipotty on a ride earlier this year...luckily my pocket knife hit the deck first! Now, I'm careful to roll my jersey up on itself to contain my pocket contents before I go in the door. Cheers!

Phone, no - Eye Glasses, YES!
Never lost a phone that way but eye glasses, that's another story. Lost 3 pairs one summer and each time I never noticed they were missing until I needed to use them. : ( Now, depending on which bike I'm riding, my glasses are kept in a secure pocket or trunk bag. Haven't lost any glasses, or any other carry along since.

I had a smartphone jump out of my jersey pocket when I hit a small bump while bombing down a hill at least 40mph.
I wish they still made "smaller" smartphones so that I can fit my phone sideways and/or deeper, but manufacturers are only interested in making big phones nowadays.

I usually carry my iPhone in my small under-seat bag, but a recent road-rage incident has got me thinking I should carry the phone in a more quickly accessible jersey pocket.
I'm just afraid I'll hit a large bump and the phone will fly out without me noticing and be lost/damaged....
So, has anyone ever lost their phone from a jersey pocket?

1. I think I put one down while changing a flat and forgot to pick it up. Subsequently, using "track my iPhone" I watched as someone took it home and turned it off before presumably selling it.
2. Listening to an audiobook while I rode (hey, you "don't listen while riding" people: I don't care), suddenly the audiobook cut out. I realized a mile or so later I had dropped the phone somehow and went back. It was still there with cracked screen. (I'm out of my "cracked screen AppleCare allowance" now after two events.)
Sucks.
I'm more careful now, although I won't wear an armband or a holster.

I'm sure someone has, but in the past 30,000 miles of riding (including crits and CX races, crashes, gravel, single track, etc) I haven't lost anything from a jersey pocket. Phone, wallet, gels, pump, spare change, etc always finish the ride where they started. I didn't even lose anything when I went over the bars and broke my pelvis. Phone was right there to call for help.

It took me awhile to feel comfortable carrying my phone, house keys, etc. in my jersey pockets. I was sure they'd fall out. However, I gained my courage this year, and have had zero problems.

I had my phone eject on a descent >40mph once; the jersey fit kind of poorly and was cheap. I threw out that jersey and kept putting my phone in my jersey pocket and have had no incidents since. A case with some rubberized surface isn't a terrible idea.

Since I'm almost certain I'm the oldest person in this thread, I feel ok saying that this thread reads like an Onion story on grandparents using cell phones.
* Where Is My iPhone is an app. You could use it to -- wait for it -- find your iPhone if it's on and connected to a network.
* Silicon phone cases cost $10. There are only 349,736 to choose from, so you'll have to compromise. But at least your phone won't crack.
* Some people (definitely not those who are very serious cyclist types) use a handlebar mount for their phone. Crazy thing - they don't take up more space than most "bike computers."
I use a phone cradle so I can use the newfangled "streaming music" feature that is apparently part of this Interweb thing. All my serious cycling friends (who were actually really good close friends) ditched me bcos: unfashionable, but I bet they will rethink and invite me on a serious cyclist group ride someday soon.

I lost my phone once during a ride... when I left it on the toilet paper holder in the men's room at the beach once. I got three miles away when I realized it wasn't in my back jersey pocket. It was gone when I returned to the men's room. The happy ending is that the life guard brought it up to his stand. My bike shoes got sand in them, but I got my phone back.
So my point is that it's safer to leave it in your jersey pocket during a pit stop than to check Facebook while doing your business.

2. If you need camera that's quick and easy to operate during cycling, the HTC stick works wonders.

Been carrying my iPhone in my back pocket and never had any issues. Mind you I keep the phone in a pouch along with my ID, cleaning cloth for my glasses, and a bit of extra cash.

Maybe obvious to everyone, but hey you never know.. turn the phone sideways when putting in your pocket (ie. length of phone goes into the shorter width of the pocket)

Tried this. It stretches the pocket out a lot. And I don't even have that big of a phone. That doesn't seem like an issue, but entropy ensures that eventually the phone will make itself upright again.
