Will smaller wheels mean gearing difference riding compact cranks currently.
i heard that small wheels require larger gearing

Since the circumference of a 650 wheel is smaller, it would make sense. For the same gear ratio, you would be a bit slower on 650. Not sure this requires changing your chainrings. Unless you are already overspinning your 50x11

which 650? (A,B, C ) popular now 650 B is a smaller rim but a wider tire ..
650 A is bigger rim skinnier tire.

Sutherlands lists a 650 with a ETRTO bead seat diameter of 597 mm....

what do you have?

Use a handy gear calculator to express the various combinations of wheel size, tire size, chain-rings and cogs as Gear Inches for direct comparison.

My two cents - I ride 650s on my tri bike and 700s on my road bike. I find I can use the same components on both and really do not notice that much of a difference. Gear for 650s is just becoming harder and harder to find.
