I saw the infamous "hand on kilo" picture (it would take me forever to find it) and thought that was adriano's hand. And then someone pointed out that the name is adriano and not adriana, so after that I assumed that adriano was a male.

But it's fun to confuse people.

I feel exploited. And also seduced.

This video also has firemen and a kitten:

After reading your wheels thread, have you ever seen crashes caused by crosswind catching the wheels?

No crashes, but what it does is make it really difficult to control the bike. Frustratingly so.

In races that are won and lost by seconds (or fractions of seconds) it can be a deciding factor.

Dear Carleton,

I'm looking to actually get on a real lifting regimen, but I'm not quite sure where to start. I think I read somewhere that track cyclists are essentially power-lifters on bicycles, so should a power lifting program be appropriate for a track cyclist?

Track Sprinters are essentially power lifters on bikes.

Yes, a power lifting program would be appropriate. Basically the squat, deadlift, and power clean lifts of a power lifting program.

Dear Carleton, I am having a hell of a time finding ~30-40mm carbon clincher track wheels. In your experience, do these just not come as pre-built packages? Custom seems to be the only way to get what I want. Aluminum (Mavic) seems to be the closest thing I can find.

Background: my veeps are boat anchors and I do a lot of climbing/road riding on my track bike and would like something lighter.

Not quite a personal shopping question, more of a "Do you typically see people with this set up?" question.

p.s. your review thread was awesome, thanks

Thanks!

I don't know of any carbon clincher tubulars for track. Anyone looking for 40mm carbon usually goes for Zipp 404s and those are tubular when pre built for track.

Yes. Don't know where you'd find them now besides ebay though. I believe they were discontinued.

They were meant to be OEM orders, then weren't, so they basically went on a firesale. As low as like $500 for the set.

They are pretty awesome wheels. My teammate has some. I think he paid $800 for his set. Basically somebody made $300 profit and it was still a great deal.

@jay

yeah and good luck finding them. I'm on ebay and allofcraigs every few days looking for a set.

maybe you'll have to settle for something like a mavic ellipse if you want clincher

guy who did the 24 hour ride had a set of those and mavics when he showed up. he was on the reynolds the entire time

Yeah, I'm sure if I actually find them they will cost a pretty penny. I may just try out the Planet-X wheels. Or maybe some ebay china carbon wheels. There are pretty big threads on RBR saying that they're fine. No catastrophic failures with road use, and I would assume that track should be fine.
