Tire advice for beginner

I have a Scott Sub 30 that I bought 7 or 8 years ago and am just now riding regularly. It came with Schwable Active Citizen 700 x 35c tires. My question is what are some recommendations for upgrading these to something a bit faster? I typically ride paved roads but spend a good amount of time on the fine gravel paths of a few state parks in my area. Thank you in advance for the feedback!

Schwalbe Marathon Supremes.
Conti Gatorskins. I like 32c.
Panaracer Paselas or Pasela Protite.
The ever present Schwalbe Marathon Green Guard.

Be sure to buy and take a spare tube, patches, pump & a bicycle multi-tool.

Good luck. Looks like a nice bike.

I have Specialized Pathfinder Pros’s (700x38) on my bike. They might work for you. Smooth center section for road, but some small tread for light dirt/gravel.

They seem to roll pretty well.

The Continental Speed Rides would do well for you. They're advertised as a 42mm tire, but they're about 38mm mounted on typical hybrid rims. They're super light for their size (about 420 grams), they're foldable, they're comfortable, they're grippy on most surfaces other than mud, they roll quickly and smoothly, and they're relatively inexpensive (about $25 each). Their largest drawback is probably puncture resistance. They have thin casings and sidewalls. That makes them fast. But they also won't be as resilient as a Schwalbe with a Kevlar layer. Compromises.

I have a pair of these, with probably 600-800 miles on them, and I've never flatted.

Welcome to the forum!

I put a 700 x 35 Panracer Gravel King Sk+ on the front (for) of a hybrid. Nice tire for the price.

I really, really like Schwalbe Marathon Supremes........ I've had eight of them so far, and getting ready to buy another set.... 35 for the front or my Crosstrail, and 40 for the rear/

A bit pricey, but worth every penny!

I'm not sure if you'll be happy with the trade-offs of a faster tire in your case. The tires you have seem pretty good for your application.

You could go skinnier with a 28c or 32c, but it will tend to sink more on the fine gravel paths making harder to pedal.

You could get a lighter tire, but usually you sacrifice durability and will have more flats.
