Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't remember what happened to him.

If you have a "discussion" thread that only gets a post once every several months, why keep it at the top?

In more positive news we were approved as fosters for dogs at a shelter my wife volunteers at 2 days a week. We had our training last night. We might bring a foster pup home for Roscoe to play with. He's only got so long left and we want him to have as much joy in his life as possible.

Life is so damn complicated.
Hoping for a good outcome here for your wife. Good luck with the dogs, despite Vol’s snub.

Seems like a "Will this bike make me faster?" sticky thread might be more pivotal.

DougRNS good luck to your wife. Not to interject anything random, and I am sure she will be fine, but if they prescribe her chemo based on the 5FU treatment (which is the most common skin cancer chemo), and if you are open to suggestions from random strangers, test for a DPD processing deficiency before starting treatment. It is rare, but bad, and I know first hand from my mom in 2018 and sister in 2023.

Don't mean to be serious or concerning, and it is rare, but it is bad, and preventable, so worth an ask and a test if you get there.

That's just crazy. here banks will only offer a fixed interest term for a maximum of 5 years. The repayment term of the loan may be 30 years but there's no damn way the bank will let you fix your interest rate for that time in one go.

I just got a package of 8 today and the stems are a crappy looking white/clear plastic whereas the previous ones were a bakelite looking stem. We'll see how it works out next time that I try one.

Edit: I see from your pic that that is similar to my older tubes. I've never had trouble with those.
