Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm sure the kids of these parents are turning out just fine. No issues whatsoever.

The roads in the frozen tundra have thawed and dried up. No snow blowers or plows needed.

Not cold in the Pacific Southwest.

Texas, on the other hand, is getting winter's middle finger:

Nah. Those guys are the most fun to hang out with, and know the most about the game. They're also the best looking.

one of my friends that coached youth football grew so tired of the shenanigans he closed practices to the parents - no parents allowed to watch the practices … so some of those parents would sit / stand at the team practicing next to them
I know a few coaches who have a "24 hour" rule - parents may not discuss issues related to coaching decisions during a game until at least 24 hours after the end of the game. This is part of the agreement parents must sign when they join the team. On a 12U team, a player was expelled from the team because her dad would not comply with this rule. After the 3rd time, the HC had enough. It was really a shame for the kid. Nice kid, and a good player. They bounced to a bunch of different teams for the next couple of years, leaving a trail of bad vibes, until the kid quit playing the game completely. Her dad ruined the sport for her.

I am aware of the seating in concert band performances. SMH

Are people in New York OK? I'm seeing some very concerning content from up there.

Millennials must have a $525,000 annual salary to be happy: Millennials said in a survey they needed $525,000 a year to be happy. Here's what a Nobel prize winner's research says about money and happiness. (msn.com)

Splains some things.

I actually read the thing, and here was the rigorous data collection logic applied to the survey:
  • They asked people their age
  • They asked them how much they thought they needed to retire
  • They asked them how much they had saved toward that goal
They then "analyzed" these numbers to see what generation was closest to their retirement goals. And wrote a gripping article to match.

I had a delightful ride this morning, on the old route I used to do before train construction began and it became populated with aggressive dump truck drivers. Now, some years later, those guys are out of work, and the bicycle reclaims its road. At least for the remainder of the winter, I will likely continue with that route. It has a 20 km stretch with no topes. Delightful. It is a pleasant 91F here in north central Yucatán. Partly sunny and the roads are dry.

That's impressive self control. I would have eaten more than that.

About the time you got on that plane home, our skies were sunny and snow was melted.

Coincidence?
