Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

https://www.rei.com/product/119914/c...al-jersey-mens & https://www.rei.com/product/102663/pearl-izumi-cyclone-gel-bike-gloves-mens. Why am I buying cold weather clothing in late May? It's cold here, and with luck it will keep me riding later in the Fall.

From ebay: a new old crankset for my McLean. The one I have on it has 175mm arms, which bother me, and it's boring, too.

I have that bike mount. If you have an Outerbox Commuter case (where part of the case's sides are hard plastic and part are soft rubber) or something similar, the prongs holding the phone by the rubber part of the case aren't putting enough pressure to keep the phone in place. I actually dropped my Note8 and broke my screen because of that when I ran over a bump at high speed To 'fix' this problem (not the screen), I installed a rubber band (actually a strip of an old tube) across the top two prongs (where my case is soft rubber) and it now holds the phone securely.

Giro Zero gloves. I have the Giro II's but the cuff is annoyingly long. These should be shorter and hopefully fit the same.

Bar tape (red), helmet for my youngest son (he is now eight), and a short sleeved Suarez "Cranky Bastard" jersey for me.

Couldn't beat the $25.00 price for the jersey from Love2Pedal.

The Voler jersey arrived yesterday and I'll be wearing it tomorrow. I like the mesh fabric for hot weather. The $40 theblackbibs.com bibs are well worth the $40 (plus $5 shipping). Those arrived last weekend and I rode them on a 75 mile ride. Comfortable!

I'm slightly envious of the tires but much more envious of the tour. Will you be blogging it anywhere?

No. I don't blog. I will probably post a short description with a link to a photo album in the touring forum afterwards.

Going to have to ride from muscle memory as I have very few miles under my belt this year. Part of the impetus for the tour in my 35th high school reunion in Deerfield, MA. Going to spend two nights there. I am also looking forward to spending the night in a restored 1919 caboose in Chester, MA once I leave the school. Other than the stay at the school, in the caboose and in a motel in Hyde Park, NY, I will be tenting it all the way.
