I seem to pick up niche Dutch bikes around here so I have a few;

Batavus Randonneur GL (Build thread)
A Reynolds 531ST rando bike.


1989 Koga-Miyata Road-Ace (Build thread)
A lightweight chromoly drum-brake 3-speed bike with lots of stainless steel parts. Needs some work though.


60's Gazelle Super Licht (Build thread)
Reynolds 531 sporty upright bike. Trying to turn it into a 4-speed clubracer.


And last but not least, something a bit more modern;
1995 Gazelle Lausanne (Build thread)
One of Gazelle's last 531 frames from the 'Champion Mondial' team. It's a 90's hybrid but the model started life originally as a 'supersportfiets'. Turning it into a quick and light 9-speed commuter for someone. Should be much nicer to look at once I am done.

I suppose one could say any Land Shark, but I will submit my personal Land Shark Road Shark. Unique paint job plus unique/non-standard dimensions (66cm CTT x 57cm CTC). Tange Prestige throughout. Very light frameset. Wonderfully smooth ride that absorbs more road imperfections than you thought steel could...with a mega short wheelbase and 23mm tires.



Apologies for my 'advanced' phone being a moron in all lighting situations. Low light? Crap. Semi-low light? Grain-fest! Ambient light? Better BLOW OUT that white saddle and bar tape! Natural sunlight? Let's blow out EVERYTHING! Gorgeous sunsets? We'll take about 2/3 of those colors and leave the rest of the range out......

It's called "wishbone" seatstays. Lots of frames, production and custom, have used that style over the years.

The seat collar is not part of the seat tube. It is a removable clamp. You can move it any direction you want. Some frames have the cinch slot on the front of the seat tube because dirt usually gets in the back.

My 1965 Dilecta Le Blanc. Came to me as a modified fixed gear a couple of years ago. A wonderful old French bike with mostly French components (save the 70's Suntour shifting) With the parts on it and included with another bike, I was able to use the Pelissier hubs on 700C Super Champion Mixte rims. (tubular or clincher!) Mafac Racers, Stronglite cranks, Zefal metal/plastic mudguards, Michelin 28mm tires. Great old bike. It will be my ride this year in le Tour de Norfolk (1000 riders). I no longer try to keep up with the "fast" riders so I chose one of my vintage rides and enjoy the day. The original candy apple red is slowly fading off the silver undercoat in places.

Nobody around me has a bike like this one.

Labeled Gijs van Tuyl, a Dutch builder, but likely a contract build from Italy, either from Andrea Pesenti (aka Laserman, the chap who brazed the Cinelli Laser) or Vidmantas "Vitas" Zukauskas, an ex-Colnago builder.

Ribbed SLX, Colnago dropouts, Cinelli BB shell.

This was the bomb back in the 80's. It's still a nice ride, I take it out every now and then.

Not too many of these around, most frames self destroyed due to faulty electrical welding. Any that have survived and there are a few must have good welds.
Very light construction, Dayton were based in London but went bust around 1960. Had a successful racing team in early to mid 1950's.
This is as close to original specification as I can get but not totally correct. Brooks B17 Saddle is original. A guy is asking over £1,000 on eBay for a similar bike but he will be lucky I think!!!

I'll throw a couple rarer ones on here.

First is this Vitus Argal. I can't find hardly anything about them on the internet but I did find a reference on here and a couple other places. I actually took this one out today and it ran pretty dang fast under my old body. Mid to late 90s I believe.

Then there's this recently built up Paletti. There are a good many out there if you search around but I haven't found another painted like this.

Some of you Europeans will laugh at me, but ca. 1960 Capo bicycles are very rare (400 total back then) in the U.S., and I have three of them, including two top-of-the-line Siegers.

Not many of these ever built and none since 1967. Circa 1960 Royal Nord President. Made in Belgium. I've only seen a handful of pictures of other Royal Nord bicycles and a few motorcycles. The marble paint and hand painted striping is exquisite.

This bike is not quite vintage, but it's pretty rare. This was a concept bike, predecessor to the Serotta Atlanta that came out in 1996 in honor of the Atlanta Olympics. It was built up for the Ukrainian National Team that rode in the Tour duPont or Tour de Trump in 1995, and ridden by Vitaly Verevko. Never seen another. Many may think I ruined it by having it repainted and then building it up as a single speed, but I love the bike. I have since added a steel Serotta fork painted to match.
