Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I guarantee that my family all knew what flatulence was from birth.

Otherwise you'd have to explain to people that cameras aren't mirrors.

Thanks. I was a big city boy, and my parents were definitely not nature people. But from kindergarten through fifth grade I went to a private school in the 'burbs that was nestled in the woods. While city kids were shooting hoops during recess we were digging for crayfish in the creek that flowed through the grounds. We also took a good number of nature hikes. After a brief stint in public school I went off to Western Mass. for high school. The place is bordered by farms to the north and south, a river to the west and a small mountain ridge to the east. Spent a lot of time in that last one, doing both legitimate and illegitimate things.

We get bread from a local bakery (with locally-sourced and ground grains, etc) every week. We often get a "treat" loaf, too - typically chocolate chip banana bread. The CCBB loaf that I got this morning is outstanding - one of the best ones that we've ever gotten there. Upon trying it, my son agreed - most excellent!

... until he came across some recognizable chunks of banana. In the banana bread. Now he won't eat it.

The silver lining is that, much like @MoAlpha, it'll fall to me to pick up the slack.

So, rain is forcing me off the bike this AM for the first time since June 27th. Last day off from exercise of any kind was June 19th. I’m going through withdrawal just thinking about it.

Then, again, the day is young and I could walk a few miles in the rain or my trike has a rear fender...

So, I promise to shut up soon about the new, soulless, CFRP, bike, but I took it out for the first group thrash (flail?) this a.m. This ride is isn't fast by competitive standards and the average age has got to be >50, but the core are legit ex-racers and, while people are quite friendly, the idea is to go hard. Anyway, on the old bike, I simply couldn't hold on for more than the first hill and assumed it was me with my aging body, low mileage, and haphazard regimen. But guess what... It was the bike.

This is actually more important than it seems because I am considering the option of retiring in a couple of years and being physically able to ride with fit, competent, people is a big factor in favor of having more time.

I wouldn't say that it was the bike just yet. Sometime soon, and unbeknownst to you, we're going to replace your soulless carbon bike with one made of sugar to see if we get the same results.

Holy balls - Sony introduced a 61mp full frame camera. You're going to need some mighty fine lenses to justify that kind of resolution.

I wouldn't worry about running on about your new bike.
