Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This SuperSix looks promising, but I will say it looks very similar to the BMC Roadmachine as well as some other recent bikes. It seems like designs are converging (especially in the aerobike sector, which I realize this isn't). But part of me is still wary of BB creaking issues from an older Cannondale.

This to me is not about quality, but focus and fit. I think most on this post are pretty experienced.
If living in the PNW then discs might be a big consideration, while if living in SoCal - or racing the TdF they are for marketing.
Exactly.

Having raced in all kinds of weather (you don't get a choice when yo are an employee), rim brakes work just fine.

It is amazing the crap pro mechanics have had to pull off to deal with disc. They redesigned roof racks...they don't bother with wheel changes, just change the bike.

Dumb. Marketing.

While there are good reasons not to want disc brakes, I think this argument in particular--that it slows down wheel changes for pro racers--is moot. See here:

Twenty seconds from mechanic arrival to rider departure is a few seconds longer than the fastest rim brake wheel changes, particularly if we look back to the days when lawyer tabs were filed off.
While I'm on the topic of bad argumentation, I would also add that the claim abouheel changes in races probably shouldn't be deployed if one (not accusing roadwarrior of this) is also going to argue that disc brakes aren't needed because they're not a racer. That just doesn't make sense

How do tour bike swap inventories work anyway.. Every rider has a backup fitted to them with same frame size, saddle height, setback, handlbar width, etc? With a second flat.. then what?
