Just bought a Giant Revel Aluxx 6000 series bike, and so far I like it. I bought it used for $100. Needs some new tires and a new cable for the front derailleur, and maybe a slight adjustment for the rear, but otherwise rides real nice and smooth..no chain skipping like my other purchases.

My question is, the bike came with v-brakes. I'm wondering if this bike can be converted to disc brake easily?

Yeah, that was kind of rude... At any rate, if you simply look at what is involved on a bike with disc brakes you'll quickly figure out that there's a little more to it than simply super gluing a disc on the hubs. Caliper mounts, hub swaps, and you can see already it's not going to be simple or cheap. If even possible. HTH

cant tell by the picture but you have the mount on the frame for a rear disk brake caliper. if you dont have the mount for the caliper on the front fork you have to replace the front fork with a newer fork. hubs have a disk mount for disk brakes which you probably dont have on those hubs. new wheelset or hubs is needed possible new fork and a brakeset talking probably another 200 or more. to be honest if you change the pads on the brakes you have and ride it on cross country trails it'll be a fine bike as it is.

Thanks for the constructive help, guys. Here's a closer pic of the fork. Honestly I just like the idea of disc brakes more than the v-brakes.

If it's too much I'll forget about it and ride it as is

Nice find, fork doesn't look like it's disc compatible. V- brakes are perfectly serviceable. A still have a few with them and they stop great. Unless you are riding a lot of downhills V's are just fine.
A new fork,brakes and new wheels which take discs are not worth the effort and cost.

Just calipers, rotors and wheels are going to be 3x what you spent on the bike. IMHO - fix it up either tires/cable/adjustments and ride it.

I found this bike locally, of course, through Facebook Marketplace. I find the pricing there is a LOT more reasonable than used bikes on CL for some odd reason.

So, I suppose I'll just stick with what I have. I like the bike, it rides smooth..that's all that matters.

The fork suspension seems a little squishy but it doesn't bottom out. I think that can be adjusted...

By the way, can anybody ID which Revel model this is (Revel 0,1,2,3,etc)? Not even sure which year it is. Trying to match it up with Google pics but it's not helping.

Yeah, it's a 2014 Revel 3. Confirmed it with the original owner. Thanks! Now I know what to look for when I want original replacement parts.

Well.. according to this it looks like I might want to get a better fork anyway..I have the SR Suntour m3010..suggestions?

EDIT: Checking my serial number and it starts at 13, so it doesn't fall within the recalled serial numbers..I still wonder if it should be replaced anyway....

Don't put upgrade money into this bike.... it is what it is. If you need a better bike, better save up for one.

You could dump $500 into this bike, but it still will be way behind some lower cost newer or used hardtails. literally everything is better on a new $1000 hardtail and much is hardcoded into the frame geometry and wheel standards.

None taken. I'm just a little concerned about a pre-recall fork that might have me doing a faceplant into the ground or worse.

I'm not, however, someone that's going to throw $1000 or more at a bike, when that money could be used to put a down payment on a newer car, take a trip, etc. So I want just a little nicer...call it personalization.
