New To Road Biking Need Advice
I've been riding a Marin Redwood trail bike for about a year now. I'm wanting to ride the MS150 from San Antonio to Corpus, but need to buy a road bike. I'd like to stay under $1,000 in cost. I'm 5'8" and 220. What I want to know is where do I start in regards to fit? Some things I've read say 53cm bike others 55cm. I just don't know. Any help would be appreciated. I'm in New Braunfels, Texas.

the wrenchscience.com fit calculator is pretty good imo...
do the measurements three times to get them right... you'll need a partner to help....
depending on your inseam length, reach, etc., at your height you probably could fit a 53/54/55, but then you might be tinkering with stem length, seat post setback, traditional vs. compact geometry, how the seat tube is measured (center to top; center to center), etc....
nothing like actually riding a bike... if you have a lbs with bikes in that size range, a few test rides will speak volumes, especially if the lbs has someone who will take the time to work with you...

What kind of road bike did you buy? Did you ride the MS 150?
