Press Release

City of Dallas Promotes Dallas Bike to City Hall on October th, 2009. Ariving at City Hall Plaza at 8:30AM and Unveiling of Complete Streets Initiative
The city of Dallas, in cooperation with DART, the City Parks Department, and Bike Friendly Oak Cliff invites everyone to bicycle to City Hall to promote greater bicycle awareness on the morning of October 7th, 2009. Council Members will leave from Union Station at 8AM and bicycle down Young Street to City Hall. Afterward, the city will unveil upcoming initiatives that embrace Complete Streets policies, and introduce the city's new bicycle coordinator.
Complete Streets are streets designed and operated to enable safe access for all users. Developing greater multi-modal infrastructures have proven to improve safety, ease transportation flow, improve air quality, and help the overall health of communities who have adopted them. Dallas currently ranks as "Worst City in the US for Bicycling". Through this effort, the city hopes to make steps in moving away from this title, and developing a "bike friendly" environment.
