1978 Raleigh Professional 22.5" CTT

PRICE NOW $600 INCLUDES SHIPPING to lower 48. Thanks for looking!

Hi folks, back to thinning the herd since I have less garage space. Here is a 1978 Raleigh Pro, 22 1/2" center to top seat tube. This one has original paint, with a fair amount of patina, and it has replacement decals. All Campy, including a rare 4-hole front derailleur (1978 only), and a PAT78 rear derailleur, Cinelli 1/A stem and Mod. 64 bars, Campy SL pedals. Has Campy low flange hubs laced to AVA tubular rims. Brooks Team Pro saddle (large rivets). I will include a reproduction leather Cinelli sewup bag, based on an original I have. Looking to get $600 from this one, including shipping costs via Bikeflights. Send me a PM if you have any questions and thanks for looking!

Andy

I would PM you if I didn't live so far away. There's nothing I hate more than paying for shipping.

Thanks Lamont Cobb , I can get you an estimate if you send me a PM with your zip. I use bike flights, which tends to be somewhat less expensive than UPS or others.

Thanks,

Andy

I love how on this one, they you spaced the 'Professional' logo to be in-between the cable guides. A detail worth noting, and how it should have come!

Nice bike, even nicer price! GLWS!

Please excuse my ignorance. You say 22.5" C-T. Is this how Raleigh always denotes frame size C-T? Or do they use C-C, in which case this could also be called a 21.5? I've been looking for an old professional, but I think I need a 21.5" (which is what I had in an old Raleigh back in the day) or whatever comes with a 54-55 top tube.

These are really fine riding bikes . I have one that is very close to the serial number on this one that I built up and I love riding it. Mine is the tall one and it fits perfectly . The short top tube compared to seat tube just works for me. GLWS

Yes, during this period, Raleigh always measured Center to Top - that was the common standard back then. My other Pro is a 21.5 CTT, which is probably what you are looking for. It's funny; the Raleighs during this time frame came in increments of 1/2 niches (20 1/2, 21 1/2, 22 1/2, etc.) which drove me crazy because my preferred size is actually 22" CTT!

Thanks!

Andy

I have numerous 70s Raleighs in 21-1/2". This is the next size up. If it were the 21-1/2", I likely would have made an offer, as I prefer this to the fastback frame style.

I am truly surprised with all of the Raleigh love out there, that this one is still in queue. It’s a lovely bike (not a Raleigh guy, so that’s a significant compliment). And a very attractive price.

That's a nice offer Andy (waive shipping costs). I discussed it with Wifey (a mistake, because we all know it's better to ask for forgiveness than permission) but she threw cold water all over it. I can't blame her, home improvements need to take priority.

two words for a successful relationship: Separate checking accounts!!

Actually I have a 3rd, PayPal really. What I make from various hobbies (whiskey speculation, hi-fi components (fixing and selling) and bike stuff) that I only draw from for hobbies.
That way the general fund or entertainment/travel fund is not effected.

Now this bike. Seriously underpriced in the coolest color ever available plus free shipping.
This is a no-brainer. 1978 specific parts.
He said free shipping is is basically a $225 (minimum) savings.

The perfect patina, scratches, sure, but no rust and ride it, forget about it and still have the best bike at most meets.

I've never met a mink before, but when I do, I hope he is blue.

I do not understand why this is still available.

Fully agree on all the above, and while not an expert on these I am a huge longtime fan, have several and know a little.

I am surprised that it has not been called out and don't think I have seen it on these, the B Carre style seat stay cap. I have 2 of these later style frame and neither have this.

GREAT bike as all above have said. I think reason for not selling so far is " vintage " bike market is soft ( as said many times on this forum) and people are moving away from DT shifters.
A few years ago this bike would be sold in ONE DAY !!!

I have a Schwinn Super Sport SP, with some fairly new components, in VERY GOOD condition with BOTH Blackburn racks. Been priced at $ 269.00 for 4 months......with no interest. I know winter is a tough time to sell....but where can you get a bike of this quality for this price now-a-days ????
GLWS
Come on Spring ? Summer !!!
