This is my 1957 Higgins Ultralite trike. At the moment my go to work steed. :-)

I see, thanks.
ps. Even though you can't see them, you probably aren't real keen on the orange sparkle grips that I like so well, either.

IDK if it's strictly a townie, but that trike is great. The rear rack is really cool, is it custom?

Makes sense. Great looking bike. I would love to see a closeup of the drive train! It looks like the double seat stays would prevent getting the cog to the middle of the axle.

No fenders on the rear is fairly normal for these lightweight trikes,as per Tricycle Association In general the splash from the water on the road passes you by, for the cyclist behind you he stays behind your drive train. :-)

The rear rack comes from https://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/trykit/index.htm mouth watering trikes :-)

This is my real townie :-) It's a 1963 Higgins Roadster and a lovely machine to ride. Originally it was geared with a Sturmey Archer 3 speed, as I I haul a trailer for shopping I kept wrecking the inners of the SA hub :-(. A pal converted it to single speed 39x20 which is just perfect. I have another rear rack on it now and when the weather clears I'll post.
A little background on Higgins Higgins frame builders
Trikes are great fun and a great conversational point when on tour.
Thanks for reading. JD.

For those interested in the drive train. This what https://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/trykit/index.htm came up with.

Very interesting. So, only one wheel is driven. In effect, you have a differential rear axle.

Here's a 1986-7? Schwinn Traveler Mixtie I just finished for my Mom. It's pretty cool; one of the last years they had USA made 4130 steel frame/fork. All Japan Suntour/Sakae parts, Dia Compe brakes, etc.
I replaced the drop bar and turkey brakes with a Nitto bar and some new Dia Compe levers that kinda-sorta match the original brake calipers. Added a Wald removable basket, Terry (San Marco) women's saddle and synthetic leather grips that are matching blue. Rides really fun, she loves it. The night I finished it I took it out for a drunken test run around the block I was laughing like a kid zigzagging back and forth.
