Shimano PD – T8000 pedals installation: How much torque?

On the Shimano PD – T8000 pedals, there's a decal that says they should be tightened to 10 nM. The manual, on the other hand, says 35 to 55 nM. Anybody have experience with these pedals and know which torque value is right?
The manual for the Shimano PD – T8000 pedals is here: https://si.shimano.com/pdfs/dm/DM-TRPD001-02-ENG.pdf

I had no problem tightening the pedals to 10 nM with a small torque wrench, but my torque wrench for 30+ nM is much longer and seems unwieldy for installing pedals. Maybe it's just my technique.

Just a little more than snug will be fine. Progression will make them a little tighter.

Precession will tend to tighten them but that's a large difference in specs. Are you sure the decal refers to installation torque and not something else?

I just use plenty of grease and get 'em snug. No idea what torque value that works out to, but I haven't stripped anything out or been unable to remove a pedal yet.

If the crank arms aren't carbon fiber there is no reason to worry about torque values. Tighten 'em snug and that's it. So says my white beard and dozen bikes in the garage.

Scroll down to Section 5 of the manual/instructions....the 10 Nm torque value is listed there, when servicing the bearing assembly.

^^ This is correct.

10 to 12 nM is for tightening the Lock Bush to the pedal using a 17 mm cone wrench. See page 18.

35 to 55 nM is for attaching the pedal spindle to the crank arm using the 8 mm hex wrench. See page 11.
