Here is one from an 86'. Note it is keyed. Left side 16mm. Right side is 19mm. Screwed down together, the length is 19cm between the heads. Unscrewed is about 29mm between the heads.

Here is another pic with one listed as a 22mm. 22m is the length on both from the outside of the heads. The length of the one in the bag is 16mm between the heads.

I'm taking the one from the bag and making sure it works. Hold on.

The one from the bag was not long enough to engage. Let me figure out why and repost.

Who knew seatpost binder bolts could be so exciting? Anyway, I got the one from the bag to engage, but only for a thread or two. It is a no go. Here is a side to side comparison. If you look at the keyed side, the original is 4mm longer from the key to the other end. It is 11mm from the key/14mm from the inside of head to the other end. If you need another one, look for one with those dimensions.

I usually buy the longer seatpost binder bolts and then cut down the 'nut' side as required. A Dremel with HD cutting wheel also makes it easy to change the shape of the key if necessary.

I thought I responded to your PM. I guess not. Anyway, the one that you linked should work.

The snow finally melted so I took my new bike out on my hilly shakeout route. (I'm never more than 2 miles from my house.) Time was 2 minutes faster than my last ride. It's so smooth. Stopped at the park to tighten up the seat, had to take a picture.

I took your advice and picked up a trainer for him yesterday. I even got him a computer since he's obsessed with his speed. Now he'll stay off my bike, hopefully.

A very nice 108 mile morning jaunt, thank you very much. Rode a recently completed project bike, pics to follow after T-giving.

I think she liked it. The logistics were difficult for her, but no doubt she enjoyed the ride, as did you.

Sneak peak

Plenty of work to do yet

Sweet, but that doesn’t look like a 54 cm frame!

Must be the camera angle. It definitely is. My 56cm is long gone. This one is stamped 54cm and with the 80mm stem, it's still a bit long. Still figuring out my options. I have the OEM components, all in good shape, and they'd clean up well. That's likely what I'll do, but I can go 8sp Ergo or 7sp Synchro, or 10-sp downtube shifted....

My vote is 10 speed down tube. Nothing looks better than a set of Dura-Ace DT shifters and they feel so good you want to shift.

What you see in the pic are Campy 10sp down tube shifters. I just mounted them to see if the cable pull was the same for 7-sp RD's. It is not.
