Will this shifter mount work with my Dura Ace bar end shifter?
Looking to use my bar end shifter as a thumb shifter. Will this microshift mount work with my Shimano shifter? It sure looks like it, the axle nut is oval shaped, looks like the opening on the mount here for the axle nut is oval, just in two directions.
I contacted the seller but got a response that they're swamped.

I am just looking for a bar mount to replace the bar plug mount pictured.
It looks like my shifter and inards will bolt right to it, but the seller got back to me and said it won't work, That said, I have heard some microshift stuff is sideways compatible with shimano.
I know Paul Components has a dealy-bob that works but it's $85. Seems a bit steep

Hmmm, I wouldn't buy that one.
Looking at some pictures online of open Shimano shifters.
It looks like there is more disassembly needed.
However, the nut has a bit of an ovalized shape. Very different from what the nut appears to require for the thumb shifter mounts above.
For Microshift, this one has a bit more of the right shape:
But, looking at other photos online, it appears as if or some shifters, the square is recessed (female), and for others it is sticking out (male).
See what your shifter needs.

The bar-end mounting surface is what you describe as "male" with the oblong hole for the shifter axle.
In fact, it looks identical to the black mount in the pic you posted. I imagine that would work.
The Microshift one I was looking at looks similar, but it looks like you have two options for the oval axle nut, sideways and not sideways.

Yes! I do! The only other real variable is the hole for the oblong/oval shaped axle nut that holds the top side of the shifter to the mount.
The microshift one looks weird but I think the oblong hole is bore two ways at a 90 deg crossing so you can mount a few different orientations.
Do you agree? The seller got back to me and said it won't work but kinda looks like it will....

Ahhh, so the nut may go in at either two 45° angle options, or one 90° angle option.
Then it might work. Although I still might choose the other style.
Does the cable guide location make a difference? Both the back spacing (which might be able to be adjusted with a washer if needed), and the barrel diameter (more shifter dependent, but that also is related to cable pull (standardized for different shifters) and throw (could vary).

I assume the "Square" is related to the base of the Campagnolo Downtube Shifter mounts.
And, if so, that should generally standardize the sizes.

I am not worried about cable pull, these are marketed as "road/microshift" which is the same actuation as Shimano HG, insofar as I know.
Thanks to all who have helped by the way, I may take a chance if they accept returns or I may also just buy an $11 friction shifter....

Please get back and let us now if you try the mount and how it works. I have a Dura Ace bar end shifter and will do the same thing if it works. Like you, I don't want to spend that much for the Pauls Thunbies

Will do - although please note that my desire to ride this thing may outweigh my desire to science the shifting so I just set it up as a single speed to start. Let's see if my patience wins out or what!
