Bass fishing no bike weekend

Went to Lake Buchanan in central Texas to bass fish so no bike. By Friday I had 147 miles of gravel/pavement and I really needed to do something else for a few days. I know who cares but just 2 days of no biking and I am recharged to ride bikes.

I'm jealous! The rains overhere in the Fredericksberg (Texas) area have my favorite fly fishing river spot under high and heavy flow. Can't believe how much rain we have had in the past couple of months. Looking forward for some dryer weather so the bass fishing will get back to normal.

Yes, a stop at HEB in Fredericksburg Texas not Virginia . It was raining but manage to get beer and food before the trek to LLano. The Pedernales River had a better than avg flow. Above normal pool the fishing can get difficult as you said. Spreads the fish around and gets them out of their normal patterns. Texas as most of the US has had a cooler than normal spring. Caught some decent bass at Buchanan my first fishing trip there and it is an awesome reservoir. My neighbors recently purchased a lake house on Buchanan they are close to retirement so it was cool to have a place to crash and their boat in the water ready to go in the early morning. Ok I know this is a bike forum but to me successful fishing and biking parallel each other as far as the mindset it takes.

Agreed, I love biking but having other interests keeps a balance and in the long run you will be a better cyclist. Machka a long time contributor to the forum has a great thread on general well being that made a lot of sense and made me think about that in more detail.

We're heading up to our place in AR this weekend and hope to get some fishing in. The river has been too high the last few trips so hoping there's enough of a break in the rain so the river is at a reasonable level and starting to clear.

Getting back into fly fishing and will be nice to hook a few nice bass. If not taking them on flies will jump back to spinning.

Will also be working on my MTB trail I've been building.

Nothing great about 10 bass in the 2-2 1/2 pound range. Full moon phase makes fishing slow.

Yup, 31.5 miles today. The S Texas heat is on the way. Morning rides will be mandatory unless you enjoy heat stroke or sickness

I only care if you show me the fish. or at least a picture of the place you went, if you didn't catch anything which is OK, cuz fishing isn't always about the fish, right?

Being retired, I fish a LOT, but some spots are a LONG walk on dusty roads so I'm outfitting my MTN bike with a rod holder to combine the sports.

I seem to remember a faux-rant on Foo that you were departing the 50+ forum as it's made up of old fogies..and as a little over 50 you were just too wild and crazy of a guy to be a fogie.
