I bought a used Garmin so I can load routes for gravel races (love it, works great) but I almost can't be bothered to use it on a regular basis. I like tracking my rides on Strava but my phone does that just fine. Meh.

what model? I have a 500 and 520 that I use, but pretty much only when I'm training w power, which is about half the time. If I did more gravel riding I might use it more for the useful route finding features.

Friday I did my first TTT practice with the guys. When I'm going hard by myself on the road bike, I can do the ~4.25 mi lap at about 25 MPH. We were clocking steady 31 MPH laps as a group on TT bikes... The hardest part isn't the pull, which you just stay low/smooth for and which gets progressively difficult. The hardest part is getting back into the draft at that speed, which requires 2-3 seconds of significant acceleration when you're already gassed. So really it's knowing how to stop pulling that 3-5 seconds before it feels like you need to. Hopefully we can continue to progress and bring home some state champ medals in a few weeks!
Yesterday I did some intervals surrounding a race pace group ride, legs pretty trashed today so I'm taking it off. More work on the TT bike AND road bike tomorrow.

Today I slept late, went to Mass, had bacon/egg/cheese biscuits and slept some more.

Edge 810. Like I said, for gravel racing in the middle of nowhere on a route I don't know, I'll be using it for sure. For my daily training/recreation rides, it's just one more thing to keep charge/carry/ keep track of.

Today I hit a patch of gravel during a turn and wiped out. Helmet saved my face from a bunch of nasty scrapes, still caught my chin and hands pretty good though. Fun ride.

Crashing seems to be a thing lately. I went down on Memorial Day. @bonsai171 was right behind me and had a front row seat.

Glad you are here to type about it.

Thanks Tim. Luckily I work in medicine so I cleaned and dressed everything nicely once I got to work this morning. Just scrapes and bruises really, nothing that will keep me off the bike for more than a day or two, especially with the weather in Chicago finally coming around.
Hope you're healing up well too man. Anything serious?

I keep Hibiclens at the house for such occasions. A healthy dose of protein in the form of Prime Rib at the local steakhouse didn't hurt either.

Yesterday my 4 year old daughter pulled the drain stopper on the bathroom sink, turned on the water all the way, then forgot about it. Flooded the bathroom, dining room, foyer, coat closet, and part of the garage.

I have the KOM for Fiesta Island... Until my teammate Kevin uploads his ride. Then I will be second . 31.1 MPH for 4.1 miles, three-man effort. Fiesta is very windy, exposed and "slow" for a flat course.
Our third rider (Cody) dropped off and finished 3 seconds behind me, but that was enough to fall to third. So close!
We were starting with four and planning on doing a full 40 k mock TTT.... Ouch. But a teammate (@wktmeow) flatted a tubular about 1/2 lap in. So we rode back to the car to pick him up, then decided to go for the KOM. Nothing like a little (successful) Strava hunting/cat 6 racing to start the day!
Oh, and it was hard. Face covered in snot and spit at the end .
yep
