Cleaned and shined! Show some
I got my miles in this morning before the sun and temp got too high. Just a casual 26 miles. This afternoon I decided to do some maintenance work on my Airborne Zeppelin titanium. I switched the wheels with another bike, putting silver Mavic open pro's/Ultegra hubs on the Zepp and Vuelta Corsa SLR black with black spokes, silver braking area, on my early 90's Ochsner steel. I also mounted new tires on the Zepp, tuned up and lubed the drivetrain and cleaned and polished the bike. It was good way to spend a scorcher in the AC and comfort of home. I am looking forward to riding tomorrow morning on a clean, shiny bike. They seem to go faster when they have had some TLC, and I love that feeling! I really like the looks of both bikes with the wheel switch. Show us some cleaned and shined bikes!

I always clean mine after every ride. It’s just part of my routine. You’re right, a clean bike is a fast bike...a clean bike is also a quiet bike. I did 25 miles today as well. 436 for this month so far.

I also like a really quiet bike. The Mav open pro rims with the Ultegra hubs are as silent as wheels can be. My steel Ochsner with Open Pros is the quietest bike I have ever been on. Cleaning the bike after every ride is a good habit to get into. With this really hot weather and the dripping, soaking sweat I need to start doing that, especially with the steel. Thanks for your post!

I can sure relate to your post about being the cleanest it will ever be. When I finished re-building my Ochsner that very thought went through my mind. But that is OK, I did it to ride it!

Just to add, you are completely correct with regards to the hot weather and sweating all over the bike. The level of effort to *maintain* a clean and well lubed bike is far less than it is to *clean* a bike after a set time or interval.

I've been polishing details on a '61 Legnano Gran Premio, a recent barn find. This is my $100 Clunker Challenge bike, at least it doesn't cost to shine it up.
My first Campy Gran Turisimo, seems to wotk pretty well.
Been dreading cotter removal to service the bottom bracket, but the aluminum foil did wonders for the chrome.
The bike's best freature, the headbadge is getting there.
