Emonda Owners, Tire Options?

Emonda Owners, Tire Options?
Have any of you other Emonda owners tried a tire larger than a 25 on your bike? Our team has a deal with Schwable and I was looking at what tubeless options they have in stock and it's either a 23 or 28? I am currently running Bontrager R3 tubeless in 25 but not sure how much more room the 28 may take up, but wouldn't mind the extra ride comfort if it would work? So is anyone else running anything bigger than my 25?

I have a set of Boyd Altamont rims that are 24mm wide on my Domane 4.5 and I could not fit a Continental GP4000s II 28mm tire on the rear. The front fit fine with plenty of clearance but the rear tire rubbed on the bottom of the brake caliper and the bracket that the brake caliper bolts to.

I have 25s but remember reading somewhere that 28s do fit.

I saw on one of the reviews that a Trek employee "let it slip" he had 30's on his, however I am looking for real world examples. @Domane that doesn't surprise me as one of the guys at the LBS has HED wheels that are 24mm wide on his cross bike. With Vittoria 27 tires on those wheels they actually measure almost 32 with calipers.

I have an Emonda SL6 with HED Ardennes Plus wheels (25mm wide). The widest tire I could fit up front was a 25mm GP4000s II, and it was really, really tight. Clearance was adequate in the back.

What brakes you have will determine the tire size. On my SLR with DA9010 brakes 25 4000s11 ( on DA C35's) is as big as I can go. I have read that the Bontragger brakes will not permit 25's on rear.

Mine is the SL6 with Ultegra and Race Lite TLR wheels. It appears that there is some extra room, however the tires I'm looking at are not the same as the ones. Guess I could always try a 28 and if it doesn't work sell the tires? I may try and see if the LBS has a wheel with a 28 on it and check it that way?

I just ordered an SL6... I was thinking of buying those rims with my usual Mich Pro4 25c tires. I was hoping it would soften the ride a bit. Still enjoying the wheelset selection?

I'm still enjoying it and would never switch back to narrower rims. I am riding a 23mm tire up front now since I got tired of the times my front wheel would drag when dirt and debris got caught between my tire and front brake. I'm surprised Trek didn't think of creating more clearance up front for wider tires. Hopefully your Michelin tires will fit better!

I'm actually shocked someone would want a road tubeless tire larger than 25mm for comfort reasons. What PSI do you normally run? I find my 23mm Schwalbe one tubeless to be way more comfortable than 25/28mm clinchers simply because I can run them at 70-80psi. I'm a recovering cylde (198lbs), so anything below 100 PSI is a no-no with clinchers.

Emonda tyre size
I have an Emonda SL 8 with Dura-ace and Race X light wheels. I have fitted a 28mm wide Schwalbe one tyre on the rear. Still to test tyre size on the front.

25mm GP4000 Sii here. Sorry, haven't tried anything wider, but there looks like there's decent space beyond the 25s.

I did end up having 28's on the front and rear. Worked well with a qualification... If the road was wet and/or covered in grit, there was insufficient room at times for clearance as the tyres picked up debris, resulting in the inside of the brake arms getting scratched. Not terminal by any means, but annoying. Since the 28's, I have had 26mm Bontrager tubeless and 25mm clinchers. 25/26 appears to be the best compromise in my opinion.

I have duraace brakes (not direct mount) on a SL frame. I have read previously that the clearance on direct mount is not quite as good as single mount.
