Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cinelli Experience 2011 frame - English bottom bracket??

I was all set to buy one of these frames, but when I saw that it had a BSA / English bottom bracket thread, it got me worried that it was made in Taiwan or somewhere other than Italy.

GVH lists his Experience frames as from Italy. Anyone know for sure? Why would Cinelli put English threads on one of their Columbus equipped frames?

Really? I guess that means I shouldn't buy it? I am selling my beloved DeRosa Merak (made by Ugo in 2003) because it's too small for me, and with my bad back, has too much saddle to bar drop. Maybe I would be better off with a CAAD5 frame made in the USA?

Right, strange for a Cinelli, regardless of where it's made. It's not like the frame was made by Giant, right?

My Colnago is english thread as well. Unfortunately it wasn't made in Italy either.

I guess if Colnago, Cinelli, and a bunch of other top makers are building their lower-end frames in Taiwan, it doesn't mean they are junky frames right?

Well my "low end" frameset sells for $3,500 so I hope it isn't junk.

Sorry, I meant aluminum lower end frames that aren't made in Italy. I think the carbon technology is way ahead in Asia, as well as lower wages. Win-win for Italian bike companies to build their top carbon stuff in Asia.

Taiwan makes almost all high end CF frames. I would be concerned if it weren't made in Taiwan.

Screw it, I just ordered a white one in XL! Shinybikes.com had it for a silly $520. Should be fun to build up in time for spring!!
