Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

One thing I didn't do is new paint. My frame had been power-coated after a crash repair decades ago. It's a bit chipped and scraped in a few areas, but looks decent from a distance. At some point, I'll strip it all down again, get it repainted, and rebuild it. When I ordered the new decals that are currently on it, I also ordered a duplicate set in anticipation of a future repaint. I have changed my mind multiple times about what that future color will be. It might stay black. it's kind of grown on me.

Hit and run of course. You should at least remove his plates for him.

Sounds like a solid plan. Good luck with that. You might want to verify the status of your various insurances before commencing this maneuver, however.

Looks pretty good! The member Cassave who replied to your thread is in my club. Nice man and he is also a framebuilder. Haven't seen him but once in a year.

I checked Velocals, and they have the correct decals for me to re-do this frame. But that's money.

I think I spent about $1k in parts and materials on my project. The only thing that I didn't replace was the headset. However, I wasn't trying to do it as cheaply as possible, and made some buying mistakes along the way. As they say..."experience is what you get when things go wrong."

Nice ride today though we had headwind on the way back. We rode out to a country store and sat outside and ate cannoli that my friend bought for us. I also had one of those new Cokes with coffee, the caramel flavor. Yuck.
My other friend told me our club is having a remote start ride in the mountains this Saturday. This is a ride I first did in the early 90s and is one of my favorite rides even though I haven't done it in a few years. I wussed out the last time they did it. It's 85 miles with about 8000 feet of climbing but it's actually harder than it sounds.
It's a loop and there is no way to cut the course and no bail out option. I'd like to join them but I don't want to suffer. I'm a wuss.

Ah... so that's what can make a power meter fun.

After the recent discussion on 3'+ efforts and how intervals.icu uses that for eFTP calculation I did my best to give it the beans on what I guessed was a 3' hill.

Turns out it was just over 3' and I got myself a nice little +22W boost on my eFTP tonight

Pics from the ride I'm considering this Saturday. Me and Cassave leading the group before we go back up into the mountains where I will go otb.

There is a bit more quiet, flatish road before the climbing resumes.

After the initial climbing up to 6000 feet elevation there is a 23 mile descent. Here is me from a different year getting ready to descend.

This is the community where I lived in the 90s. One climb away from that descent.

There is ULTEGRA (shimano.com) though.

And electric reeling, https://fish.shimano.com/content/fis...ric_Reels.html

Massive day of yard work today. Bought 11 bags of Mulch last night, grass seed, flowers and fertilizer. Wife also gave me permission for me to get my drill.

Up to this point I had an old black and decker that came from god knows where. After about three screws the battery would be dead.

Picked up a Kobalt 24v 1/2 brushless drill, and Impact driver. Cheaper to buy both than it was to buy the drill by itself.

When we got to the house, one of the cabinet doors was off and sitting in a corner. No one mentioned it until we asked. One of the two hinges had bent, so BIL just took the door off and let it sit there for who knows how long.

Anyway, I picked up a new pair of hinges when we picked up a load of mulch, but the face frame drillings were different. I needed to drill pilot holes and drive a pair of 1" screws.

Holy ****. I found 3 drills in the house - a corded one with ****ed up chuck jaws (wouldn't hold a bit straight), a cordless with a dead-to-the-world battery, and another cordless with the most pitiful torque I've ever experienced. On top of that, every Phillips bit was rounded and would cam out of the screw heads. Those ****** tools turned a 10 minute job in to an hour plus of frustration.
