Oversized Pulley. Will it help?
Guys,
I am thinking about oversized pulley. There are a few brands in the market but ceramic speed is out of my budget. I am considering Morph OSP. It looks good but i am not sure how it performs on the real word.
Should I? Or better keep the money and buy something else instead?

I bet a clean and correctly oiled drivetrain will provide the same saving in wattage... and it's free.

Only a mental would spend their own money on a Ceramicspeed OSP setup. Now a knockoff for say a hundred bucks? People have wasted money on worse. It certainly won't make anything worse-- I've actually read of more than one person noting improved shifting, and that's on Ultegra and DuraAce setups, which already shift exceptionally well. There are plenty of people out there riding on titanium pedal spindles. AFAIC, oversized pulleys fall under the same classification. Definitely a want more than a need. Go for it. It's your money. Just don't expect it to turn you into a rocketship.

Perhaps go to single speed and eliminate the derailleur pulleys?
I'm going to install an oversized lower guide pulley on my touring/utility bike to hopefully get a little extra derailleur pull.
However, that may mean some cage alterations. I suppose I need to revisit that project now that I have the parts in, and it is time to replace the chain.
The OS pulleys for friction make some sense, but the friction from a derailleur is supposed to be minimal.

Agreed, but cost vs return, a clean drivetrain is a lot cheaper than a $500 pulley system.
Hey, don't get me wrong, if you can afford it and are a techie junkie... go for it.
I've spend more than my share of disposable income on my bikes.

It stands to reason that larger pulleys are a tiny bit more efficient, but it's well below the threshold of being noticeable. So dropping a bundle on one of these cage kits is pretty extravagant.
Also, having tried aluminium pulleys before, I can tell you standard ones are plastic for a reason; they are noisy in metal.
But I thought what the hell, and spent a bit of time with a vernier looking at my Red derailer, and figured it could take 13/15. Spent a bit of time browsing on eBay, and found these Rock Bros pulleys in resin, and the even-toothed ones were available in narrow/wide... So I got 12/14, and I think my shifting is a bit crisper now, at the expense of being slightlier fussy about index adjustment. And maybe I save a watt.

Funny you should mention that. I'm thinking big pulleys may be easier to clean. At least it seemed so when I was trying to clean the gunk out of a derailleur the other day. Or maybe they just collect more gunk.
