Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

best valube womans all road/ gravel bike for $1500?

HI- Im looking for a bike for my wife. My criteria are tire clearance for at least 38mm tires, shimano hydraulic brakes, and shimano shifting. Beyond that I don't have much criteria, don't care about frame material, brand, etc. This Liv Brava SLR I is the best bike for the money that meets my criteria so far...any other suggestions?

thanks

edit- cant figure out how to edit the thread, I can't spell sorry!

You already found what I'd have suggested: Giant are the go-to brand for value (Liv being their women's-specific line).

I can't speak for that particular model, but I just bought a Liv Avail Advanced Pro and absolutely love it. Liv started out as the womans line of Giant bikes, but became an independent company in 2014. However, they still use a lot of Giant parts, Giant does the manufacturing (at least of the frame), and I think they are mostly (if not exclusively) sold by Giant dealers.

The beauty of Liv, in my opinion is that they consider the specific needs of the average woman. There are differences... lol This is the first bike with a seat that I find comfortable right from the start. Of course, I have only ridden about 13 miles on it, so, I can't speak for the long term.
