Cornering and Braking Skills
Lots of misinformation out there about brakes in general and how they should be used.
Skills with Phil is excellent and his explanation of how to corner flat turns is one of the best. Everything shown on the mountain bike is applicable to gravel.

Good video. Picking the best line and avoiding any sudden actions including braking or sudden steering corrections is 90% of bike handling on gravel, IMO. The line should be as round (or as large a circle) as possible while avoiding loose gravel on the outside shoulder. I tend to stay on a line just inside the outside shoulder until I can clearly see the exit of the turn. I then gently come to the inside until I get to the apex of the turn, and then I go back out to the firm outside track. This all assumes that the gravel is consistent. If the gravel is rutted or has a loose center section, I just stay on the firm portion and ride as smoothly as possible.
If I do need to brake, I complete all my braking before the turn. I also apply the back brake more than the front. Drop bar bikes tend to wash out at the front if too much front brake is applied. It's difficult to get the bike to oversteer on gravel from overuse of the rear brake.
