My goal for April is 300 miles, with at least 150 on an ACTUAL bike. I do like the security of riding in the living room, but need to get outside more.

I will likely pick up a trainer this fall. It was 40 degrees this morning when I left the house. That's about as cold as I want to endure. I've ridden colder, but simply don't enjoy it. As a result, I've missed lots of miles over the past 4 months. And I don't like riding when it's wet, either.

I'm pretty lucky here in the DFW metroplex, well, at least up at the northeastern part where I ride. Most drivers are pretty respectful. I've had a couple of fairly close passes, but nothing that really felt unsafe after the initial shock of thinking, "that car was too close." Add a couple of jerks who honk because I'm delaying them getting to work at 7 AM. Mind you, they always pass in the next lane, so I guess they're really honking because they don't like bicycles on the road. I think that's more irritating than the drivers who pass a little too closely.

GOAL: 150 miles

04/01- 15.1 miles Had a strong quartering wind that slowed me then aided. The other bane of my springtime riding is the ruts and bumps in the limestone path from those who rushed the season on a soft surface.

Well, it's been many months since I've participated in one of these "100+ miles" goal threads, but then again, thanks to a nasty viral infection, it's been many months since I've been on a bike. My doctor has cleared me for "easy" exercise cycling, so I'm going to give an even 100 miles a shot. If I can manage more, that will be great. So, having said that....

April 01 = 4.58 miles
April 02 = 5.69 miles

MTD = 10.27 of (at least) 100 miles.

Nasty viral infection does NOT sound fun. I hope you continue to recover. You're already 10% of the way to your goal for the month!

Nope, MRSA is definitely not fun. I'm still kind of weak, and even though my rides the past two days were relatively short, they have left me pretty exhausted. I'll probably need a day or two to recover, strange as that sounds for just 10 miles.

Finally tallied the March numbers and rode 304 miles against the 200 mile goal. This month I'll reach for 350 miles. Note my usual experience is 1 lb loss for every week with 100+ miles as long as it's consistent miles and not binge miles.

4/02 - 4.4 miles
4/03 - 29.8 miles
4/04 - 14.1 miles

MTD = 48.3 miles
Goal: 350 miles
