bought a 1991 marinoni yesterday

so yeah i bought a nice 52 cm 1991 marinoni yesterday paid 250$ the bike is in excellent shape beside 2 things, it came without a saddle (well the lady selling the bike didnt knew where the original one was, her husband will check this week to find it) and I am missing a "aero plug" on the campy white brake hood.

the bike was custom made in 1991,nice deep blue paint rear seat/chain stay + fork are chrome, columbus tubing everywhere, brakes, brake handles, saddle post, shifter, headset, dropout, double crankset, all the bolts, the hubs/skewer,front and rear derailleur are all campagnolo; cinelli stem and handlebar; Ambrosio 19 super elite rims; as long as i can see DT swiss stainless steel spokes; sach maillard 6 speed cassette or freewheel (cant determine this one yet) and a campy chain as far as i know

the tires are new specialized armadillo 700x23 ,they were installed on the bike and the lady learned she was pregnant so she never rode them (She showed me the repair bill from when she had a tune-up and tires installed last september total amount 225$ the tires alone are 80$ each here lol+ tune up + txs,I learned something, never go there lol)

I think i made a good deal out of that, with all that campy/cinelli stuff + the new tires

pictures to come tomorow (tuesday) when there will be sun outside, with my ugly spare saddle lol

You will love your Marinoni. My 1976 M is a great rider and pretty darn nice to look at. I recently picked up a newer Marinoni "Squadra" year 2000 with full Shimano 105 nine speed grouppo. No pictures of the Squadra yet but have a peek at my mid seventies gem.

https://www.mytenspeeds.com/My_TenSpe...troduction.htm

Good luck with your new bike.

Mark McKinney is sheer genius and the others are only half a Mavic wheel behind (C&V content). . Last show of the season tonight I think. Might be the last ever...got bad reviews by mainstream press

What model? I love my Marinonis. I have two -- one steel, one titanium.

I'm guessing yours is lugged. What tubeset? Columbus Brain perhaps?

Kids in the Hall ... not so much. They should have retired after "I'm crushing your head."

Pics! I have a '91 also.. A later '91 with an english BB, first year... they switched in '91... It's been hanging in a closet for years, I just can't justify building it at the moment and can't let it go because it's one of a kind... 130mm rear spacing with english threading, lugged columbus SP with italian styling made in Canada!? Not a combo you find too often.

Can't believe someone got that woman pay $225 for a tune up and tires. What's the name of that place again?

Is it just my perspective, or are the tops of those bars really fat?

no shipping lol im keeping it, i will change the stem for now, later ill get another frame (most likely the preformance alu frame) and i will swap my campy grouppo on it then i will hang the noni frame on my room wall or rebuild it with spare parts for my mom.

and on the bar size, its the perspective, there not that much fatter than my touring bike bars with non aero brake routing

Looks as though it is equipped with an early Athena grouppo. The rear cogs are a threaded freewheel, not a casette/freehub. 6 speed freewheel is about 5 years obsolete for a 1991 bike, likely it is not the original FW. Does the synchro-indexing work? It would be a very easy upgrade to put on a 7-speed FW and an 8 speed is possible if you respace the axel and re-dish the rear wheel.

Not really vintage but certainly classic...

I was lucky enough to find a newer Marinoni that I purchased at the start of 2010. The bike just purchased, a Marinoni Squadra with full Shimano 105 nine speed components, is in excellent shape and a treat to ride.

That makes four Marinoni bicycles owned to date and every one proved to be a treat to ride and work on. Have a peek at Marinoni #4, the Squadra from the year 2000.
