After two years fighting with several saddles - perhaps 12 - 15? - I am really, really happy with my selle san marco Regal. No cut out - no pain anymore.

carbuncles are a surface bacterial infection of the pores of the skin resolved by antibacterial soap, Hygiene.
I bought surgeon's scrub ..
and a clean pair of bike shorts every morning .

and a topical application of an antibacterial ointment where there is a flare up ..

Multi month Bike tours and I have not had to stop because of saddle sores..

Yes. Your saddle doesn't fit you. Where you have sores, you don't want saddle. Find a saddle that doesn't rub you there. Only your sit bones should touch the saddle. It can be done. There's a saddle for everyone. That's why there are hundreds of different saddle shapes. It's a good thing that each of us is not completely unique.

The cysts are from pressure and are not really an infection. That said, if you wash your groin after every ride with dandruff shampoo, you'll minimize these sorts of problems.

I rode one of the selle italia's for years and my bike fit like a easy chair, i am on a different bike and trying a sellia iltalia, and getting these sores, trying to let myself heal first,

swinging by the co-op to pick up a few saddles tonight though ,
