Good deal on chain
Snooping around Amazon for prime day and found KMC Z 72 for $6.44. 8 speed chain that I have used with good results on 6 through 8 speed friction and indexed groups. Comes with a removable master link. I bought 3, used my $10 credit I got from Whole Foods a few days ago and came out with 3 chains for 9 clams.

I'd say that deal was off the chain..........or cuff........or whatever the young uns are saying these days. Maybe the deal was Gucci. I think that is the term currently.

Good chain. I've used the KMC Z72 several times on different bikes. It's best on Shimano-style freewheels and cassettes, indexed or friction, including SunRace freewheels and MicroShift cassettes that use the same cog teeth configurations.
Reminds me, I need to order a couple more. I just installed my last new Z72 on my Univega. The first Z72 I bought back in 2016 lasted this long, and many thousands of miles, with little or no maintenance. I think I dribbled some Park CL-1 on the chain once a year. It was "stretched" when I compared it against a fresh Z72 last week, but the old chain was still working fine.
The Z72 was fine on my Ironman (Suntour GPX group) with SunRace freewheels, but a bit noisy and finicky when I switched back to Suntour freewheels -- the Z72 kept trying to "help" shift, so the adjustment is extremely finicky. Not so bad with friction shifting, but impossible to completely dial out the noise with index shifting. The plain plate Z33 and similar chains run more quietly with my Suntour freewheels.
I haven't tried it, and don't recommend it, but... I'm betting those mushroom head rivets could be reused if the owner peened the rivet again after installation. Personally I prefer using the Missing Links. But those mushroom head pins could probably be reused if the head was peened again. I've saved the 2 or 3 link cutoffs, with the rivets still attached, just for emergencies or if I ever get brave enough to test my theory.

I'm kinda preferential to the SRAM 870 chain for 6-7-8 speed applications. Believe it 's quieter and therefore more efficient.
Used my $10 credit to buy one for $8 tonight.
