The sad fact is, the roads are full of 'em... they all have a slightly different rationalization... but it all boils down to "I am more important than you, or the laws."

The list of excuses is endless... but the results are 40,000 motorist deaths a year, thousands of dead pedestrians, and hundreds of dead cyclists...

The attitude you refer to is almost exclusively the difficulties in my ride, bike or car (though I try to keep the car to a min). Last year, on a bicycle priority road, and just seconds from the stop sign (where I would rejoin the MUP and be forever out of his life), a guy buzzes me to a shared place at the stop sign. I questioned his dangerous move and he stood on two bogus points: 1. A bicycle cannot occupy the full lane; 2. "I don't wanna hear that *hit!", when quoted the laws he was violating. He is still yelling denial as he turns onto a 50 meter, dead end, apartment street.... What a waste of protoplasm....
